I do feel frustrated that a superb game as Il-2 seems to be drifting away from what makes it so good. I will buy a 1946 add on out of loyalty for the amount of fun I have had from Il-2 and it successors but it frustrates me that we cannot have what should have completed the task. Rather than a speculative add on involving a lot of "back of the *** packet" sketches that might or might not have made it into production we could have certainly have had Norway and Burma maps that are plainly ready to go. I know some of this stuff might make it but we could also have had the Whirlwind and the Typhoon, aside from the Meteor. The latter is not a "what if" jet rather than an "it was" jet. Not a world beater but an operational World War Two jet. Apart from a generic Western Desert map we have nothing from the Med. I flew a Glad campaign which used the Hawaii map - I would love to see an accurate map of the island. It is a theatre that involved many of the aircraft already existing in game and a few others. It would be great if the work that Ian Boys and others are doing could actually make it into the game before it is finally signed off.

Cheers

ouston...Oleg's quietly mentioned a few times that after Storm of War: Battle of Britain is finished...Storm of War: North Africa or something in the Med will be next. So I suspect they are giving us the bare minimum for that theater at the moment...Ians map will be a great bonus...but the good stuff is yet to come.

I recommend that you check places like SimHQ to get a more rounded knowledge of the subject before you decide you know what's happening with maps, for instance

Many developers seem not very interested in posting on the Ubi forums. Investigate what they have to say on things

I think you will be interested in the news concerning when the sim is "signing off", as it seems to me that it's father away than you fel it is, and it might also interest you to read the thoughts of people like Ian Boys concerning things liike maps

You may find that some of your concerns are precipitous

As for "what if" scenarios using "really were" aircraft...I can't see the point. if the focus of the '46 add-on does not include Britian (which as far as we know, it may, and then again, it may not), then how could a Meteor or say a vampire be a good choice to model? You are assuming that you know the content of the add-on. Perhaps it does not include Britian's involvement. If that's the case, why would a Meteor be included? Certainly F7Fs and F8Fs were really in service in 1946. Given what we know about US aircraft content for the sim, i would rule them out. I think there is every possibility that Britian just doesn't play a role in this '46 add-on, and this is the reason thre's no meteor

In regards to moving away from what made it so good...you will lose no previous content by using the '46 add-on http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif It adds content, it doesn't alter content. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif
