Just curious about this one http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

What plane would have you made if it wasn't for the old reservations list at il2center.com?

We all know how some planes got reserved right from the beginning by people who never had time to finish them. My intention is not to blame anyone for not having time, or to blame Luthier to set up the list in the first place (It was the best way to avoid 2 people working on the same project and wasting months of work). I'm just curious about what planeset we could have today if it wasn't for that list. I imagine things could have been very different€¦ http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I'll start

I wanted to make the old I-15, also known and the Chato in the Spanish Civil War.

I€ve always been fond of the good old cr@p planes, and I though this one could have been great for early war battles. I was also hopping that it could be a nice match for the Cr.32 Chirri, another plane that never saw the light in the series...
I contacted Luthier and he told me that the I-15 was reserved by Oleg himself, which was good news after all, as I could fly it eventually, and instead he offered me two choices: The Komet and the Gladiator. I went for the Gladiator without hesitation, and the rest is history... never regretted it. Made very good friends thanks to it, got huge amounts of help from Orheim and the F19 chaps with the cockpit, and when I finally got my hands on it I loved the FM. What a lovely ride.

Thing is that almost a year later I suddenly realised there had been a small misunderstanding: Oleg wanted to make the I-153, not the I-15!!!

While you're at it, how about a map of Guernica?

j/k of course - but it'd be nice to dream *sigh*

I'm pretty happy with the Gladiator too http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif

A LOT of the 3rd party modelers have dispersed or moved on. Personally, I have a good list.

PBN-1 Nomad
P-80
Go-229
P-63
P-38 J and L
Spitfire IX and Vb
Cw-21b
Do-335 (partial credit, Alex finished it)
Ki-43

I think I got them all....

Oleg has it on the list for the aircraft add-on after 4.02. There was some screenshots posted in the OR in the CW-21b roll rate forum

LOL. The J8A is an improved Gladiator.

Take your standard Mk.II, add an extra fuel tank, change the metal prop for a wooden one, add some skis for winter, and finally get rid of all the nonsense imperial-units instruments and replace them with rational metric ones http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

True... The only one I still keep in touch with (from time to time) is Dani "Kozhedub". He is almost unknown in these forums but he modelled no less than 8 planes for Pacific Fighters (Wildcat and Liberator amongst them).

I know he would have loved to get these two in the game:
- Yak UT-1
- IL-10

True. Swedish designations are just that, designations. Even with indigenous designs like Saab. A J29 is still a Saab Tunnan as J8 is still a Gloster Gladiator http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

i know that there wasnt the references needed for the Pe-2 , it constantly was said during 2001/02 there wasnt enough info available , they must have found something good later on tho

apart from that iv'e Always wondered why the IL-10 was never in FB's release , IL2 was designed to show off the Sturmovik & after learning about the IL-10 i thought it was a dead cert for FB

would have been cool to get to fly the He-100 off against the Bf109 too . . . . .

We will get one of them when we get an F8F Bearcat. Be sure!

The aircraft I wanted to make buy were RESURVED was the Mossy, He-129, He-219, and a few others. I got fustrated and started taking over dead projects. P-38, Go-229 and Spit were all "resurved" with no progress for months. So if I contenued to go by the resurved list, we would not have those 3.

There were a few more I wanted to model on the resurved list. It was a huge fustration, be sure!

Cockpit references for the Pe-2 shouldn't have been too hard to obtain- I believe there are several examples preserved in museums in the USSR. The only difficulty may have been getting permission to photograph the interiors......

Well, Luthier is one funny guy http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif Absolutely fantastic job on the J8A. I like to fly that plane and I do so quite often.

Our team (Jutocsa, mkubani, Erbriac) tried to get the same quality with another cr@p biplane Avia B.534 which will make it ingame with AI Letov .328. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif I know you helped a lot with useful hints, thx again for that. The only thing I regret is we run out of time with the Avia cockpit. Would be great match for Gladiator and Cr.32 as well.

For me personally - Avia pit on the 1st place, improved P-47 series pits on the 2nd and with new a/c on the 3rd - an early mark Spitfire would be cool

Gibbage - yes, you did a lot planes S! for that. I always think on you when I try to paint something on Mk.Vb or Mk.IX Spitfire fuselage http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Hey hey hey, here I have been messing with Lexx' mind for years brainwahsing him telling him "it is not a Gladiator, it's a J8A", and here you come walzing in ruining it all.. shame shame shame http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

Of course it's a Gladiator, but not a MKII or a MKI, it's a Gloster Gladiator J8A. Looks like a MkI (blister) but runs like a MkII (engine), and as Haddock said, those Swedish engineers had a swell time ripping out all those nonsense gauges with imperial units http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

Vladimir Kochmarsky "SaQSoN" is behind the Ki-61. Beautiful model. I love that cockpit. And remember what Oleg said when Pacific fighters came out:"Finally I officially name the best third party modellers for PF - Vladimir Kochmarsky and Dani Santos." http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
