The ubi-gods have spoken no new actual airplane sounds for you! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

You could tape this video and play it back while your using the game though.. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Yes, 109 sound isn't right since original IL2.

It's a shame that we have like 5 or 6 different engine sounds for ... 250+ planes http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

Well, it seems reasonable that this is an area 1c had to cut corners. Not everyone knows much about the subtle differences between ww2 a/c engine sounds. Actually, very few people out there have even heard even half of our 250 planes.

BUT, the 109 sounded better in the original IL2. If it ain't broke.......

The original IL2 had it right, but it was simplified at some point.

To the other sounds, as Oleg said, I can only recommend to make your judgement after playing IL2 on a 5.1 Sound-system and with a decent soundcard.

I do play IL2 on a 5.1 system and with a more than decent sound card and the engines still sound like **** toys! lol

Creative X-fi xtreme & logitech 5.1 surround = 109 still sounding like a toy.

This is the greatest fighter of ww2 but it is so dull to fly, even with my sound system.

This gets my vote, how hard is it to change a sound????

Nothing of that will happen at all. IL-2 sounds will not be changed.

SoW:BoB sounds will be different in all aspects. As far as I've heard.

It wasn't the greatest fighter of ww2, but worry not. The P51 sound is even more off than the 109.

I don´t get it. Why do I hear a clear wistle in 109. And the sound is quite rich good. One of the nicest planes to fly is the P38 with those two engines roaring to your ears. I have just onboard soundcard, but the headphones are Sennheiser HD595´s.

Nothing in this game sounds real at all, like the Russian machine gun that shoots the green tracer bullets, really what the hell is that?

Also replace the fire on the cannons with smoke already... looks completely dull and boring

Its your headphones. Most people have crappy speakers that have really poor dynamic range...allot of speaker units tend to be bass heavy which everyone agrees "sounds good" when they are listening to music (I disagree). Sennheiser's tend to be fairly accurate in any of the reviews I've read.

The whistle you're hearing is the super charger on the DB601 engine sucking in air, its the signature sound of the DB601.

If someday you're at an air show where one of Nixon's engines is cranked up and flown, it'll sound something like "a stone crusher," as one ex-Messerschmitt pilot put it to English writer Michael Jerram. Jerram has himself heard a DB-601 in flight and describes it as "a rasping growl combined with the whistle of its hydraulic supercharger."

Yeah, I know that, but many players say they don´t hear it. Personally Oleg has done quite good job on sounds, if you crank up the volume it is immersive. If you compare sounds to many other games the surround feeling in IL2 is awesome.

And that is also the truth. Many times when I let my friends test my soundsystem, they say that they can´t listen to their own systems anymore. Because those sound so crappy. Many od those who whine about sounds in IL2 should try to play it with a decent soundsystem, just like Oleg has always said.

If ppl don't hear the whistle then Icefire said it best, it's the sound setup. I have the XF-i and use mid range quality headphones, I can definitely hear it. I like the way IL-2 generates the sounds, I just don't like the sound samples.

Im fed up with what I have read here.... And besides I think that it is not only the Me109 sound(which I agreen is a great sounding Aircraft), but so are many, many others like the Spitfire generations but to name a few, with the un-mistakable merlin engine!!!!
I am not spitfire biased, like I have mentioned there are many others...

I am sorry, I think as far as the IL-2 series goes they are the best combat sims out, but for crying out load why cant Oleg get this that players want a more realistic feeling to his productions and if, dare I say "Microsoft" with (CFS) can do it (The engine sound's in them are fabulous) why can't Oleg's boys????????

Come on and lets try and band together and get some results!!!!!!!!!! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif
