To start with I am interested in the Difficulty setting in the game. Most of the options I understand. However, the god'd eye view of ships. If you say no then they don't show on the map at all, even the ones you can see. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/1072.gif

I don't care to see ships on map unless I can see them, get a general direction (bearing)from their use of radio, and thoes contact reports that are transmitted by other ships, subs, and BdU. That is realistic, IMHO.

The other is Manual Targeting and No wepons Officer assistance. Manual Targeting I get, but the relationship of No Wepons Officerr assistance seem to do nothing but change the persentage ratting? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

I have downloaded several Mod'd and the only one I can get to work is No Fatuge. This one is great. Fatuge is bassed on time at station, Moral, and Resilience. Resilience and Moral also seem to effect recovery as well. So the longer you are on patrol, Morale and Resilience are effected and of one does get tired faster and does not recover as fast. I like very much, great job in Mod making.

The UZO does not work. I tried Mod's and no change. I must not be doing somthing right.

No Milk Cow bases or Milk Cows after adding this Mod. Again I must be doing it wrong or they are not around in 1939 or early 1940.

This is for any questions and answers.

This is a real great game, the best. However needs some twekes. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

It sounds like perhaps some of your mods are not installed correctly. Have you tried using the Jonesoft mod installer? That one is a must-have, simplifying much of the mod installs. Most of the mods are released to be compatibile with it.

Milk cows were not around in 39 and 40. I don't think they began to operate until 1942, but I may be mistaken. If you have installed the mod correctly, then you should at least be able to go into Axis-friendly ports such as those in Spain. You approach the port, sometimes there will be a German merchant ship there. Hit the "esc" key and choose dock at "X." You will be refueled and possibly rearmed. I can't say for sure as the only time I used it, I did not need torpedoes. Also, be aware that you cannot use the Real U-boat and Milk Cow mods together, they are incompatible. Sorry, you must choose one or the other.

Forgot to mention the UZO. It is possible that you may have "broken" the UZO, but I've never heard of that happening as a result of mod installs. Perhaps you are not using it correctly?

To use it, go to that station. You can use the mouse and arrow keys to move left and right. When you are lined up on a ship, press the "L" key to lock the view. Assuming you are using auto-targetting, the information will be displayed and the info will be fed to the selected tube or tubes, if you are salvo firing. The colours of the triangle in the UZO or scope indicate the reliability of the solution. Red is worst, green is best, the other colours in between. It is best to try to shoot on a green for the greatest likelihood of a hit. You can also adjust your view in the UZO and scope up and down by dragging with the left mouse button.

Note that at great distances, and also in rough weather, it may take some to lock up the view. The closer you are, the easier it is to lock the UZO or scope. In fog it is very easy to lose the lock, at 300 or so metres. If you immediately press "L" you can lock it up again for a few seconds. Repeat as often as necessary.

Still have some of the Mod's that seem to change nothing http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

Oh Well! That is life. To move on, what about fuel? I am on patrol nearing 50% does this mean I need to head back? I'm in the English Channel dodging a Destroyer that came looking for me after sinking a Cargo Ship. To far to go to a Spanish port, besides that Destroyer is patroling between Dover and the Frinch Coast looking for me. But, do I need to start for My base? I would like to sail it rather then using the return to base command.

Ok, I will make some assumptions about your situation. I am guessing that you are in a type 2. If your home port is Wilhelmshaven, you can hang around for a few more days. If your home port is Kiel, then you will have to soon head home in order to have enough fuel left to sail around Denmark. A good speed I find for stretching the fuel in the type 2 is 5 to 6 knots. Set your speed, allow a few minutes for your boat to settle at the new speed, then ask your naviagator for an estimate of range at current speed. Allow for a few hundred extra kilometers in case of bad weather or attacking another target on the way back.

If you are really short of fuel, you can always duck into Wilhelmshaven even if it is not your home port. You will be refueled and rearmed, but you will not be able to award any medals or qualifications until you get back to home port. Your new patrol grid will be "Null." Just go out wherever you like, hunt and hope to sink something, then return to home port.

I highly recommend not travelling through the English Channel. It is too shallow for effective evasion, although some may disagree with me on that point. I find that the reward to risk ratio is too low to make it an acceptable option, to me at least.

Good news: There is a new harbour traffic mod which now includes the milk cow mod! It's 10 or 14 megs to download, depending on which version you get. One is for use with Real U-boat 1.44, the other is a stand-alone version.

Thanks Kaleun1961.

I agree that the Channel is not the best place to be.

During the 2nd WW the Uboats took the long way around with UdB's blessing http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Ok... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Weather, BAD Weather. I don't have a problem with weather in the game, buuuuuuuuut, every patrol I go on has been much the same, the first day or two good weather then a monster of a storm hits and then last for weeks. Is this just me???

Also I now have some Mods working. But now some things are gone that were good. Hull Integerty Report, The Bridge Crew wearing foul weather gear. Little things like this. I am still looking for the big gains from the mods, like improved graphes relistic subs. Commander Personal Record.

The weather is a big one for me first games had little or none. Too much is not good either.

About wrong gear of the crew.
They don´t change the uniforms into rainclothes unless you let them in to change...so if its clear weather and that changes into storm and you keep the men up on the bridge the raincoats don´t appear on them http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif but is you let them in and put back up into the bridge they take appropriate raingear from inside and voilá rainclothes appear. One clls that annoying and other realism http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif suite yourself.
Happy Hunting!
