Pic is of Seattle USA.Pics of Fs2004 Mega Scenery 5 meter per pixel satellite..Also The MegaScenery team is pleased to announced that it has formed a partnership with leading aerial photography supplier AirphotoUSA. AirphotoUSA holds the world's biggest database of quality aerial photography for the continental United States and it is these images that will be used to provide the 1 and 2 foot per pixel source data for the city areas that are contained in all future MegaScenery titles commencing with Mid Atlantic which includes both Washington DC and Baltimore recreated from 2 foot per pixel source data. We're excited about this development which will result in even higher quality MegaScenery titles in the future.

Granted this is beautiful MODERN photo realistic scenery and it does look great.

Recreating early forties stuff is a whole other thing. You can't just map terrain from satelite pictures. You have to create it from scratch. A completely different and much more difficult project.

As much as I would love to see better scenery, I'm not going to hold my breath.

I'm going to say I hope not... at least not in this form. Satellite terrain-mapping has always irritated me no end in flight sims. Sure it looks great from altitude but once you break about 2000m or so it starts looking like your grandma's porridge; you know it's good for you but you wouldn't touch it with a 10 ft pole!

I think enhancements to the graphics engine along the lines of LOMAC is what we need. They look good from any altitude and unify the environment. If you look at IL-2, although older than LOMAC, you'll see it achieved the latter quite well; nothing looks out of place. Compare to the FS series where buildings seem to stick out of the porridge like sore thumbs and any animated features appear cartoony relative to the surroundings and I think it's a much better way to go.

Oh yeah, I just remembered. How are you going to get the photo-imagery in the first place? Travel back in time or will you be OK fighting WWII over a 6 lane autobahn? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Well, there is no place to go but to go up from Facific Fighters scenery. The worst sim scenery since SWOLW. People who poo-poo modern FS2004 scenery haven't seen the new super high res mega scenery. They are thinking of Mig Alley days in the early 90s. The Lago scenery packs are fantastic down low. Main problem is that 10 meter requires too much processing power. Eventually though. Wow....2 foot you would need about 10 gigs just for the main map you would need top o the line super puter too.

I have several scenery packs with my FS2004. Im up to 28 gigs for the program and aircraft. The WOP P47 over the Lago England is fantastic. Should try it.

should have guessed from the URL..nice grass and 3D trees. Not familiar with the 1C WWII game. looks like it is 3rd person only. Much Like MS train simulator scenery/environment only fun. (kidding)

I am hoping that 1C does a scenery job for BOB similar the UK2000 for FS2004. High res destrucable historically accurate environment is essential IMO. I fly the Spit XIV using the UK2000 addon in FS2004 just for the immersion factor just as much as I fly PF. thanks

We will be flying in Google Earth before long. That's my bet! You could just choose the lowest populated areas for WWII sims: Rice fields, small English towns surrounded by countryside etc. Just like we have small maps today.

Google Earth pictures; screenshots I took a few weeks ago fron Google Earth over the New York area:

Oh my! the http://games.1c.ru/ww2rts/?type=gallery looked insanely nice. I wish you could one day combine all types of fighting, with the same accuracy as we have in IL2 (without a monthly fee)

What does ''Ñ"оÑ€?я м¸Ñ€о²?я СºÑ€¸ншоÑ"Ñ"' mean?

(With my luck it prolly says something mean to the Moderators instead of being the name of the game)

Google Earth - If you want 3D buildings: Google Earth already has some. So it wouldn't be impossible!

You can switch the buidings on and off, and pan around them.

Buildings 'off' :
