FBOW Hyper Lobby Version

Dear Community!

Thanks to some sponsors we are able to provide you the Real War Server for free from now on.
The server will be up and running every Wednesday and every weekend.

Wednesday is our Pacific Day.
Eastern and Western Front scenarios will be played on the weekend.

Server Times Weekend: Friday 0900 - Monday 0900
Server Time Wednesday: 0900 - Thursday 0900

The scenario will be continued. This means we will always start at the point we left last week.

How do you participate?

Log on to Hyper Lobby.
Click on the FBOW Server
Click Join

Side selection and its meaning
You have to decide which side (Blue or Red) you want to fly for by clicking on the appropriate airfield. The server will recognize the side you want to fly for and will register you in its player list. In case you enter an airfield of the opponent side in the future, the server will kick you temporarily. You have to re-join then and select an airfield of your own side.

Deathkick
Deathkick is meant to encourage players to behave more realistic. In case you get killed the server will ban you for 30 minutes. You may re-join and re-fly as soon as the 30 minutes are over.

Pingkick
There are always some experts who think it is wise to run large downloads in the background, have an ancient outdated PC or face technical difficulties like viruses, trojans etc. In order to sort them out we have the Pingkick. As soon as a player€s ping exceedes a set limit three times he or she will be removed from the game. This is meant to reduce €œwarping€ and lag. Lag is not a server problem. Player PCs are to blame.

Scorekick
Some players think it€s funny to fire on planes and ground objects of the own side. To counter such a behaviour we introduced the "Scorekick". As soon as a player reaches a certain amount of negative points he or she will be removed from the game.

Airplanes at the disposal of players
FBOW does not take into account any balancing. Players can only select aircraft used on the frontline. There are differences between North/South and Central Section of the frontline. Every side has to fullfill an objective. It is not that important whether you can use a €žsuperiour€œ airplane or not, since even the best plane does not help you if it is not suitable for the task at hand. Prototypes are not featured in the game. The planesets have been made by 88.IAP and I/JG26 experts based on historical facts, taking into account the time and the frontline you play. The planesets do not take into account the in-game data regarding the year of introduction, but rather display the historical date of introduction! Winning battles may influence aircraft availability (quantity of planes and pilots/plane types) from time to time!.

Mission objectives and airfields
Every side can see the mission objective in the briefing screen. If a side reaches its goal, a new map will be loaded with a slight advantage for the winning team. If no side accomplishes any objectives, a new map will be loaded and no advantages will be given.
Every map will feature rewarding targets for all sides: the airfields! Every building, every fuel tank may contain objects giving points to you when destroyed. So take out anything that may be of use to the enemy!

Unit Statistics
The units sponsoring the server commonly use it for their internal rating system. It is their WARSERVER. All other players are guests allowed to participate freely if they behave in an adult way. Abusive language or insults won€t be tolerated.

To everyone using the server: We wish you a lot of fun and many targets!

Sounds like a good server, and I will definatley try it, however with a death kick as long as 30 minutes I think your gonna find that your server will be pretty empty. I don't think to many people will actually wait 30 minutes to rejoin and if they join another server, i don't think they'll quit their current game just to join yours again. Tyr setting it around 5 minutes, I believe war clouds did this as well, basically by doing that people getting kicked from your server would probably join war clouds and vice versa. This would probably make these two servers the top two inside hyperlobby, and thus keeping all us players who prefer full real settings content that we have 2 great servers to play in at all time rather than sitting around and getting tired of waiting and start playing something else like CoD. That's my opinion, and I think most people might actually agree with it. Besides, it couldn't hurt to give it a try. And thx to all the squads for provideing this server for us!

Excellent news! Thanks Adi and FBOW Team! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

I flew in FBOW Beta as =Elite=Flatspin but our squad was unable to produce adequate participation to continue.

Hope to participate once again.

One question: the squad I'm in now flies LW in FB and US in PFmerged with different callsigns (ie: IV/JG51_Fl@spin and VT-51_Flatspin or VF-51_Flatspin) Is this a problem? Does side-selection registry recognize IP's or callsigns?

Regards, and once again, thanks to the FBOW Team!

Deathkick still at 30 minutes or more, I came back after 45 minutes and it still kicks me http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif. Server emptying out too, you really do need to reduce it. 5 min is no big deal but 30 minutes might as well be 24 hours.

You Did Friendly Kill!
This made a "banning"

We now did it in "Kick" only

A 30 minute deathkick really makes you work with your squad/side to stay alive which should be the most important thing (even more important than achieving objectives) IMO. At least for immersion reasons - I figure it was the most important to real life pilots. 5 minutes isn't enough 'value' on a virtual life.

When we flew the original FBOW beta, if someone got bad enough hits, we sent them home, sometimes with an escort. Bail, ditch or land in friendly territory.

Yes, PLEASE FBOW team, keep the 30 minute death kick. It's that time period that makes it painful to "virtually die", and helps to keep the furball mentaltiy out of the game! Glad to see you all are back. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

I do like the deathkick, as it doesn make you step back and pick your targets, and your aircraft much more. Although I think 30mins is a bit excessive, a lengthy deathkick is something to keep ye on yer toes. Specially if yer squadmates are still happilly blowing stuff up while you're dead!!!

Deathkick is at 5 Minutes yet for this Beta Weekend.

We will have it between 15 and 30 Minutes in Final Game.

Pls Remember: This is NOT a Dogfight Server! It is a War Game as Real as Possible. So you have to act like a Pilot.

IVJG51 where in first Beta and at beginning of foirst FBOW Gaming. They can Tell you about it is in this Combat Server http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I flew a sortie at about midnight game time in a TB-3. Flew about 120km tot he target and back again. But I made sure I was at altitude before I went anywhere near enemy territory!!

Made it there, hit the target with a decent amount of kills, and went straight home again. Nice sortie, but I was worried the whole way!! Specially as a 109 picked up on me just south of home base, but he lost me in the dark!!

Hehe, yep. And that is JUST what pilots ought to do, worry! It makes you fly smart and reduces that nasty impulse to want to furball. If you want furballs, well there are plenty of those types of servers populating HL. Few are the ones that "simulate" a war atmosphere.

Honestly, I don't understand why people feel the need to make comments like that in threads like this. If you don't care for these settings, fine. You have your way of simming, we have ours. No harm, no foul. No need to come in here waving the flame thrower. Nothing here you like? Move along then.

Got the advice of this server from a friend and I must admit it is very fast, no lag at all.

As a noob I have a lot to learn before flying in full real.

Anyway, it has good settings for planeset and maps

After more then 2 weeks of on-line flight in the FBOW, I must say that it is one of the best dogfight based server for either the connection speed and the accuracy of maps based on real war history scenarios I ever seen in HL.
Our free advice for all of you is to give it a try and check by yourselves. AS a squadron or freelancer you will have the opportunity to plan your mission and coordinate in the TS common server with other players of your own side. Infact, the aim of server is to promote the team play and avoid the furballs like the ones we are used to know.
Latelly, the number of players is increasing and the war scenario is gaining in complexity and realism.
Please, check by yourselves and post your impressions.

See you on-line http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Interesting! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif I'll try this - maybe this server will be the incubator of teamplayers online? The community is in dire need of that. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif
