Yesterday I went to my local Gamespot that I haven't been to in six months or so. last time I was there, the PC games section covered about a quarter of the store. Now the are down to two free-standing shelves, one fourth of which was covered with hardware accessories like speakers and headphones. Unless something changes, I foresee the end of retail PC game sales within a year maybe two.

Not true. This is simply cyclical. We are in a new generation of consoels, so they will get more space. Near the end of the lifespan of a console eneration the PC grows back. Usuallu PC market stay around 1/3 of console market. BUT the PC player spends far more on gamming, because it buys extra hardware much more frequently.

If you wanna sum up money sales, you must put PC games summed up with all income from ATI NVIDIA and 2/3 of AMD income and even some fraction of Itel income. And these hardware indsutries help PC game development because they know they need them to survive (who do you think paid HL2 development? )
