Hi all. Have only just got SH3 2 days ago and am really getting into it. Is the best game that i`ve played for a long time.
I just wanted to know, how do you take screenshots and then view them?
Also i read somewhere that when close to your base that you can call for backup but cannot work out how to do it ??
These are probably really stupid questions but have looked in manual and searched through forums but have had no joy.
Any answers would be much appreciated http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Welcome Woundweaver to the forum. You've made a great choice in buying SH3! They're not stupid questions at all, we all had to start somewhere.

Ok, taking screenshots. Simply hold down CTRL and then press F11. You may notice the screen will pause for a split second, don't worry about that. The screenshots are held in the main SH3 folder on your hard drive.

For a bit more fun, press pause and press the '.' key on the keypad on your keyboard to remove the dials and the 'Paused' wording from your scren, then you will find you can still move the camera around to your hearts content and experiment with different angles and 'snap' away. For example when a torpedo detonates against or underneath an enemy vessel, pause the game, remove the dials and 'spin' round the vessel with your free cam to choose your best angles for screenshots.

As for calling for back up, in the stock game it generally doesn't do anything. You might get some aerial support if you report a contact but it's very very rare indeed. It wasn't really scripted into the game.

Lastly, on your screenshots, don't forget the monthly screenshot competition, you are welcome to enter and I look forward to you seeing your contributions. Just be aware of the few rules before entering http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Welcome!

I don't suggest you take screens with the default Ctrl+F11 method. Download a trial version of Fraps, it seems to be easier, for me at least.

You can't call for escort, it was never implemented into the game. Not that you need escort anyway http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Fair point Foehammer, I was just quoting the stock method of taking them. Whatever works best for you, works best I guess! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif
