I will be releasing a sequel to my "Straight Down" campaign in the next few days.

"Straight Down Some More" requires a merged install of the game of version 4.04m or higher.

"Straight Down Some More" is a single player 19-mission campaign for the SBD-3. This campaign is a sequel to "Straight Down". You don't need to play "Straight Down" before playing this campaign, but it is highly recommended.

THE CAMPAIGN:
The time is early 1943 and you have already completed two tours of duty in the South Pacific. Your next tour of duty takes you to the northern Pacific. The Japanese have established a foothold in the Aleutians and the USN has decided that the Japanese must be eliminated from American soil. You and your squadron have been assigned to the Polar Viper, a Casablanca-class carrier which has been heavily modified for arctic operations. She and her two escorts are the only ships that can be spared to fight this battle. The Polar Viper is a tough little ship designed for severe weather. Her bow has been strengthened to handle ice up to eight inches thick, she carries 50% more fuel than a standard escort carrier, and all her external gear will function down to 30 below zero. She will be your home for the next few months as you take the fight to the Japanese in one of the most inhospitable theaters of the war.

If you survive the 15 missions in the northern Atlantic you will transfer to Dubbo's Castaway Island for 4 more missions (see the outstanding "Castaways" campaign by Dubbo).

The campain will feature an excellent skin by Beebop featuring the Polar Viper logo on the tail of the SBD. Other outstanding skins from various artists will also be included for the other aircraft that appear in the campaign.

As a tester who is flying the final version of this, I suggest you get your carrier landings down in the SBD....no adjustable seat there. And get used to flying in crappy, though survivable, weather. You may wanna get a little practice in the gunners seat to, as you have a bit of oportunity to use it at times.

There's some neat stuff going on that Ive not seen done from the pilots perspective before, like trying to get airborne while the task force is about to be attacked, etc.

Alot of work went into this, as is the case in most cmpns, but the planning is pretty extensive. And you better get your thermal underwear out, several sets actually, because you are bound to be staining some of them pretty badly.

If you like ground pounding and dive bombing, this is the cmpn for you. The SBD is alot of fun to fly, it has my fav cockpit of the whole sim. The gunners seat is a hoot to.

Survival will be rather dicey for several reasons. Since the campaign takes place in the Aleutians in the winter (the Murmansk map), crash landing in the water isn't an option. To simulate that, I have made the entire map enemy territory except for the area around your carrier.

Also, since you will be flying off an escort carrier, weight is a major problem. Your fuel load will always be less than 50%, sometimes as low as 35%. Fuel leaks will quickly be a problem for you! Fly smart and you may survive!

Although rather busy with another project and so unable to help with the beta testing, I was honored to make the Polar Viper skin for Zeus-cat. This will be yet another immersive and challenging campaign from one of the acknowledged masters of mission building.

Dubbo,

How many famous aircraft have you actually licked? It seems like a darned strange hobby, even for an Aussie-Canuck.

Define "famous". http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Actually then you can define "aircraft" and "licked"
