A good summary of what we've got so far:

"They will perform in battle the way their historical counterparts did - the Spitfire will be a good all-rounder, the Bf-110 will perform well at speed but suffer if used as a slow speed close escort plane.

The Messerschmitt Bf-109E will dominate in the southern skies but lacks the fuel to maintain a sustained fight nearer London. And the Defiant was... not a success. - Oleg" WTF http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif Oleg, the 109E never really dominated.

if the 109 dominated then it's purely as a result of initially superior German tactics and even then I'm not sure how long the RAF took to adapt. I hope we don't end with some uber 109; the Spit and 109 and were so well matched, but with differing strengths and counterbalancing weaknesses. Hopefully it was a poorly translated translation of a misquote.

The E and F were quite a match for the Spit Mk1 and the early Hurries.

Remember, we're speaking of British planes, that cannot push negative Gs, IIRC from the versions chosen.

ot...just thinking... how do you guys think they will handle German fighters in British air space in Bob (aka SoW).. will we fly over the channel for 20 minutes and then fighttime in 5 over land?

The 109 had an airframe redesign at the end of 1940. I'm pretty sure that not even pre-production F models were in use on the Channel front by October 1940

If they were, could somebody tell me what units had them? I'd love to know, might be useful info
