Just installed Arma2, this great new game will give me some light relief from IL2 campaign building!

It crossed my mind when playing, that this sort of game is how SoW:BoB will be, but in reverse - ARMA2 has 'realistic' ground troops, tanks, vehicles, but the air units feel very arcade like - Battle Of Britain will have very realistic air units, and arcade like ground units?

Prehaps this is the way simulation games will evolve, in that a 'world' type game engine will be made in which all sorts of simulations could be made from - Oleg has already said as much, but will this sort of 'world game' engine ever be as good as a proper flight sim one?

By the way it is a breath of fresh air that Bohemia Interactive welcome MODs with open arms on their official website, I do not think that any IL2 modder should now fear a lawsuit from the makers of IL2, by the time any court or law decision will be ever be made, Oleg would be releasing SoW, I think Oleg wouldn't want to issue a lawsuit against a Modder just as he launched a new game which welcomes mods!

Anyway - enjoy ARMA2 !

Can you use two joystics/Controlers in ARMA2 ?

that was one thing that ****ed me off about the first one. I use ch stick + pedals together with X45 throttle and ARMA only sees one of them. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

That's a Viktor, you can.
And to me the air part feels alot better then Armed Assault.
No sim of course, but better.

It sees everything as far as I can tell, my MFF2, throttle quadrant and TIR.

Just been giving it a run and I like it. had a little intense practise in mock fight and fighting is a deadly affair.

It looks pretty darn good, but the first one was really buggy for almost a year.. I also thought the campaign was awful compared to the original OFP.. I think I am going to wait a bit on this one.

Can't say I'm impressed by the air part. The helos are okay (and quite fun - if you have a joystick with a decent throttle), but I tried the F-35 for the first time yesterday and nearly laughed my @ss off. Whatever this thing is - it's not an aircraft. To me it felt more like one of their helos mixed with more speed and a higher climbrate. Now I know not to expect a flight sim, but surely BI could do better than this.

I actually think it`s a mistake to try making every flyable vehicle usable except the chopper. This is really a TROOP INFANTRY simulater and they should stick to that.

Amen. A troop transporting helo, an attack chopper - that's about it. Let the vacuum cleaners be AI and be happy about it.
