the fact that you can end your patrol and automactically Teleport to base at any point.....

in Aces you had to get close enough to the port before you could end your patrol, many a trip Limping home on one engine or with a badly damaged sub.

would be nice if you had to make the effort here too, with the option of asking for a tugboat if you dont want to dock or need a tow home..with a suitable loss of time in the case of the Tug for a rescue

You don't need to use the Exit Patrol button until you get near the port, or even when docked in the pen. You can use it anytime you are not in sight of the enemy.

I always go to port then Exit Patrol so the timeline for my career isn't screwed up.

One thing the devs can't increase is a players willpower to not cheat. And by their very nature it is much easier to cheat or exploit a simulation as opposed to a regular video game.

Seven days in real-time on my first campaign patrol here, and I'm still only halfway across the North Sea, though I did take a detour to get my first kill (a 2300 ton merchantman, yay!). After sitting here for what feels like countless hours, day after day, the thrill of my first chase & kill was quite tremendous.

Delayed gratification rocks. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

From what I've heard, this option is only a workaround for resupply ships not being included in time for release. Hopefully, this will be included in the next patch.

I always sail back to port. In fact I even keep it down to 6 knots while in the harbor so not to make a wake.

Well... the solution to this unrealism, is to NOT hit escape until you dock!

Pretty simple, really.

Police yourself, and play realistically as possible.

I always go allllll the way back to Kiel, and in fact, I go thru the effort of backing up into the subpen, instead of driving straight in. Makes sense, since when I leave on patrol it's facing outward.

And miss all the fuzz with the band and nurses that welcome you in the docks ???????? think about those poor Officers that waits for you until you show up (dont forget the poor guy on the motorcycle ) http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif
