Lets hope this guy resurfaces once again so we can finally have 6DOF in Il-2.
He also made a cool vid with some fixed cameras on an airplane that he uploaded on Youtube.
It seems like the game has a much higher potential than what we are seeing now, i really hope Kegetys releases his tool since it seemed to me that he was scared away by what some people said at SimHQ.

that's sad to hear, that tool could've made movie makers and offliners so happy.

I mean, there's no harm IF 4.071m have a routine EXE check for hacks online.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Forget it. With 1946 the "hole" which keygetys used was closed and a completely new security mechanism (planned for SoW) was introduced. In fact Keygetys has informed Maddox Games of his findings well before anyone else got wind of it.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

No code is unbreakable, that is why it paramount for Oleg & Team to include a solid online checker so that if any changes in the code or SFS files are detected, the culprit cannot join.

That is simple enough. Unfortunately Java seems to be the most breakable of codes - perhaps not in ability of the language itselft but the availability of decompilers and disassemblers.

Best thing to do would be for the online security to be written in some form of C++. Disassembling something like that would be like finding a needle in an enormous haystack of assembly code.

With that said, I cant wait until Oleg releases the SDK so people can start creating their offline changes which could be good enought for Oleg and Co to release... More details on that from Oleg himself here and quoted below:

http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/63110913/m/8371080943/p/14

Here is the quote:
<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-title">quote:</div><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-content">We also plan to give third party more free hands to build themselves without our control objects, small online maps, planes and cockpits....

DON'WORRY!
This means that we will have two rooms for multiplay:

1. Standard our staff room where custom made third party planes can't fly...
2. the room of online gameplay for our standard set and the planes of third party...

If user community and we ourselves will find that som guy of third party did the right job, then we will move such plane in a standard set as well.

In this case we will be more free to make new things and feature than to support third party models and community will decide which plane to play or not from third party...

I also expect to replace by such things the industry around the MS add-ons

It is in all we plan and it isn't all that will be released righ with the release of the sim.
Say tools we will release after ther release of the sim itself... and first tools will be for objects and maps, then later for planes... if possible

Note for the third party developers about these features of BoB:
we don't give full access to source code. We give access just for some basic tunings of FM and animations which will be possible to use only in single play custom made special room missions and only in special online room for such planes.
If it will be not possible to make such a scheme then we will cancel the work over custom planes... and will keep just objects and maps.
And will repeat we don't give ability to create the big maps, which we will keep for ourselves that to make new sims of new theaters. </div></BLOCKQUOTE><div class="ev_tpc_signature">

That is for SoW - not for the Il-2 line. In fact I am not thrileld by this "modding" stuff - I have had only bad experiences with modding in combat sims. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/disagree.gif<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Mmmmmmmmm not sure I agree with this...i've had only good experiences of Modding Combat Flight Sims

Look at what the Superpak and Erazor guys did with Falcon 4.0 and what Team Super Hornet have done with Janes F/A18

All fantastic stuff which really pushed the game beyond what it was originally...

I agree with jasonbirder. The Falcon 4.0 crowd has done amazing stuff. As long as the online engine sets the limitations, then for offline MODs, who cares.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">
