Hi Everyone

This is my second try at this, it took me six months to finish it and it may take that long for you to download, so be patient.

This movie is based from the book "THE MUNSTER RAID- Before and After" from Ian L. Hawkins.

B-17 Mission on October 10, 1943. Black Sunday.

That day they had no fighter escort to the target due to heavy fog, and the Luftwaffe fighters knew this and is waiting for them!! Great action!!

Maxwellsmart use authentic skins on the B-17's.

Download Link:

You will also need to have the latest Xvid version 1.0.2 to view the movie. Here is link:

Get the popcorn out and enjoy the movie. http://blitzpigs.com/forum/images/smiles/fcinema.gif

Excellent movie. Very touching. Nice use of shadows in the opening scenes and great sounds. My favourite touch was the effect of the debris hitting the cameras on the way past. Well done.

I downloaded it from willeys site and vwc, for some reason both of them the videoclip keeps shaking and glitching where you cant even watch it.

Even with the new codec. Im using wmp10 and also tried using the divx player and it does it on both.

where is a good quality version?

S! Lead

I have wmp10 with the latest Xvid 1.0.2 also.

Movie runs just fine for me.

Question Lead...did you download sometime in the past...installed a codec-pack?? If you did that might be what is causing the problems for you.

Also do you have the update version of the movie. Wiley's site had a bad version of the movie last week. Not sure if Wiley replaced it with the improved version.

Let me know what you come up with Lead.

a VERY impressive movie...

where as "CRONUS" left a veiwer what it felt like to be alone in the air as each crewmembers personal thoughts/ feelings

purple heart alley shows on grand scale just how much, aircraft, ammo, and MEN...can come falling to the earth.... and the cost on both sides..i think visually, YOU DID A GREAT JOB!
many shots were just breathtaking for me. the editing, and composition of some scenes just floored me. several times it looked authentic, or as if i WAS there.

the bad news.. but its not as bad as you might think. REALLY

i liked when the 2 forces clashed..but being a an A+D+D baby,... i almost had to go renew a RITALIN subscription thats been out for 20 years. for me it was too many 1 or 2 second shots of flybys..i liked the idea of the relentless, uforgiving attack, but it was hard for me to not get dizzy from the sides changing TOO rapidly

also, some scenes looked like it was flash animation off a website somwhere..and i dont know if its because your computer was straining under all the effects/ aircraft, or if its the download..its "jerky smooth!" hard to explain. i hope its just the download, and not hardware limitations. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

personally i find it a beautiful film that shows us, "this IS how it happened". the perspectives on both large scale battle airwar, and the tiny frail humans inside them, that paid a price. a massive undertaking, and you pulled it off very, very well for your first film http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

we'll be keeping an eye on you..

Terrible. Terrible. I am not a fan of the Allies... but I am a human. I cried like a little girl. I never imagined the horror and terror that those boys experinced. The feeling of being helpless, being bound to just stand there and watch and hear your friends die one by one, thinking "Am I the next one?"

I have just one more thing to say. It was high time somebody used the LOTR soundtracks. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif

This movie creates, more than any other movie I have seen, an effective illusion depicting the randomness, confusion, and helplessness of aerial combat.

I shall be sending the link to this movie to several friends of mine, actual combat pilots, one of whom flew for the Luftwaffe in World War Two. I am very sure they will like this movie, even in the effects are a tiny bit loud and imposing on the ears... (However, not overdone!)

I give this movie a 9.95 out of 10. Excellent Work Maxwellsmart!

Hi Guys

I'm really shocked by the answer given to this work...and my producer 310thFalcon deserves all the credit too...not only for his historical researh but also for his support when everything was against me to end it.

I will repost something that i have just written at movie makers forum at VWc wich may answer some of your questions.

"The stutters were unavoidable....think about this

More than 30 LW planes on the air at the same time

46 on the air with 12 mg each....a lot of tracers in the sky

And finnally more than 300 88mmm FLAK (only with this number could i get the amunt of flak seen on real pictures)

And all this explain why even capturing most of the movie at 1/4 of the speed the stutters were unavoidable. This makes nearly 3Gb of captures per minute of film...my HD simply had to be emptied.

BTW of the 46 b-17, i made 45 (69thDarkHawk made 100thBG Royal FLush), of those 45, 42 had real serial numbers and id codes...so there's a lot of work behind this movie and nearly 3 months of historical research, wich i did with the great help of my producer 310thFalcon.

As i tried to show a respectfull view of historical events, when one bomber hets his number 2 engine on fire it's because in real life that was the engine hitted and not number 1. The scenes where 2 bombers are collided by a bf109 and the one with the rocket hit took me almost a week to do each one and many hours of trying to achieve the exact action.

So when we speak about storyline, i tried to tell the story just as it was, the battle ragged for over 45 minutes i had to cut something out, so i just left some key moments like IP, 5 minutes to target, 1 minute to target, escort arrival. I knew preciscely how each of the bombers was lost but i couldn't show it all, and as i explained before some 15 seconds scenes required almost a week of work.

Thinks about this too, i have on my Munster mission folder more than 100 separate missions for this movie...a lot of work don't you think.."

Well thanks for watching it and reading all this....

Okay Guys i took your comments back home and decided to give each one his well deserved attention and respect€¦after all you all downloaded this massive file and watched it patiently for over 20 minutes€¦

Fulc_159th

Falcon is too shy to accept his well deserved credit€¦..as he helped me to find all the historical background for the movie and his comments were taken into accoun as the shooting progressed during the past months€¦

-HH-Dubbo

Thanks for your words about our family€s loss€¦I apologize for sharing such a thing with all of you but as I said at the end of the film€¦this is dedicated to our loved ones, we shouldn€t waste a single seconds of the time that we share with family€¦.my grandma used to say that I payed too much attention to my computer€¦.so the lesson is pay attention to those small but so important details.

LeadSpitter_

The latest version is available at the VWC thread given by Falcon at the start, Wiley should also have it by now. So your problem s could be related to codec issues as almost everyone has commented that the image quality is very good, so my suggestions is to take a look at your controlPanelhttp://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gifevice Manager:Video codec and see if you have more than one version installed, the linkf for the xvid codec is also available at the top.

GAU-8

What do you mean about A+D+D ?€¦well anyway I certainly agree with you and others about the excessive use of fly-bys..i wanted to give the impression of both sides rushing to each other like those battles scenes in Mel Gibson€s Braveheart and other adventure sagas.

About the flash animation€¦heheehe..that€s a good way to describe or disguise my reality€¦this movie was done with a GF4mx440 video card, 768 Mb of Ram and an Athlon Xp2000 processor and I could see the smoke during the capture heheheeh, I just can€t go further in image quality. More details about the processing workload involved are posted in my previous answer.

Last thing€¦I read several accounts of Munster before Falcon actually bought the book€¦and believe I€m showing only the top of the iceberg€¦war was terrible as it has been since the beginning and will be forever. Sometimes it was terrible to think that real people were onboard of those planes. As I said before each scene was made according to the real facts, almost 100 men died in the air that day..it€s only respectfull to show the actual facts and not try to €œproduce€ fantastic scenes.

Second last thing€¦this is my second movie..the first one €œForune€s Fool€ was released last year on December 31th.
Ankanor

Hey nice picture who is it ?

Well your first three lines described what I felt while doing the historical research and reading more than a hundred pages about the horror on the air and on the ground during that terrible day.

And LOTR soundtrack was also used on my first film €œForune€s Fool€

SithSpeeder & Heavy_Weather

Hey boys thanks for posting here, really only to watch the whole stuff deserves my gratitude.

PBNA-Boosher

Thanks Boosher..you got the essence of it randomness, confusion, and helplessness of aerial combat€¦.I€m very interested in the comments of people directly involved in the war. Trying to present an un-byased vision of the facts was maybe the biggest challenge€¦war was terrible..no matter wich side were you on. I have contacted several members on bombers association of the 95th, 100th and 390th to show them this movie, although for those that were there this may bring unpleasant memories. That€s why I tried to show a respectfull account of the story and why it took me so long to finish.

Of all the b-17 skins presented, I made 45 of them with their real id codes and serial numbers and in some cases their actual noseart (they will be ploaded in the future).

trumper

Thanks for putting our movie to the same height of €œI promise€€¦.that was an exquisite delicatessen, Purple Heart Alley looks more like a huge barbecue heheehe. I think that we are taking this hobby too seriously and I€m sure that the bar should be raised again by THX with his upcoming movie €œTHE FEW€.

Interesting and good movie. It touched me somehow because Emsdetten, the city i was born in, is mentionend on that movie. I've been a thousand times to Muenster and i know the city quite well. Its only 30km form Emsdetten away.
I remember those fotographs in the "Dom" (cathedral?) where you could see Muenster and the cathedral after an Bomb attack. The cathedral had some direct hits.
Muenster was attacked quite often, because it had a good infrastrucktur. (chanal, rail ...)
I worked for three years in Muenster in close procimity to an british army settlement. As i discovered later on it was a former airfield of the german Luftwaffe. After the brits left it the city of Muenster converted it into industrial area. After the work (*) began we had Bomb alert all few weeks and we had to leave our work for some hours for the bomb to be discharged.

Living history, eh?

Edit: (*) to convert the former airfield into industrial area

WOW!

No doubt this is a brilliant blend of game footage and historic photos combined to portray a sad picture of an historic event. It is very moving, made more so by the fact is is a representation of what may have actually happened.
No more please, or else I will have to fit windscreen wipers to my monitor!
This film does show what a brilliant and untouchable product the IL2 series is. If something similar ( but shorter ) were released on the unsuspecting public, the product would be shifting off the selves at a great rate of knots, or km/hr for you axis guys.
