Some of you may have noticed that the Emoticons (the small pictures of expressions such as 'thumbs up' and 'smile' are not working properly.

Ubi are aware, and in an attempt to calm the unrest in the community I'll try to explain what is happening.

Simple answer - Ubi are running low on Emoticons. Some new ones have been ordered and are expected any time now. As soon as they arrive, the Moderators will unpack them and refill the 'Emoticon Hoppers'.

Where you find you are unable to select your chosen Emoticon, it is because someone else, perhaps on another forum, is trying to select that same Emoticon.

Please be patient, new supplies are on their way. Ubisoft thanks you for your understanding and are working hard to resolve the problem.

As from the rules of Murphy's Law, don't be caught in the Shipping/Receiving room when Ubi orders new emoticons, and wouldn't you know it, I was down there getting a Dr Pepper from the soda machine. So Raide had me unpack and deliver them upstairs to the tech dept. Of course they are to big to fit in the elevator, so guess where I had to go(Yep, the stairwell). http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif At least they are running again.

I am pleased to be able to announce that the Emoticons have been re-stocked and are working correctly.

PS: Don't feed them cheese. Especially after midnight http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif That must be the modern day replacement for 'Go and ask 'X' for a long weight' (weight / wait) or 'Can you go to the hardware store and ask see what Sky Hooks they have in stock' http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif

@ Celeon - those emoticons are worrying me already. Colour, size, and expression = all wrong! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Kind of like back in Boy Scouts when you'd ask the newbie to get the "left handed smoke shifter" for the fire.

When I was in the Air Force, they would as the newbies to get a bucket for the Jet Wash.

Similar to this was astabdard wind-up used in the RAF Northolt Fire Section in the 70's. New Firemen would be sent out to the TACAN hut to take tea and sandwiches to the "TACAN Man". One rookie walked around the hut 3 times before realising the hut was, in fact, unmanned, and was seen hurling the tray of tea across the undergrowth before storming back to the Fire section http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif

My mother was once sent to the hardware store for a tin of "elbow grease"! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

Another time, when King George VI was visiting wy father's naval air station at Hullavington in 1946, they'd had a long, hot, dry summer and all the grass was dry and brown. The groundcrews and airmen were ordered to paint it green in time for the visit!

Old British military maxim:

1. If it moves, salute it...
2. If it doesn't move, pick it up...
3. If you can't pick it up, paint it.
