im in 1941 and im based in lorient.
they get the type IX before any other flotillias(thats y i chose it) nad now ive just got enough renown to switch from my type VIIB to a IXB or IXC

is it a good idea to switch already or should i wait till???

theres one thing more
ive installed the harbour traffic mod so theres other ships in port(as u might have guessed http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif) when im out of the harbour River thing

i speed up time and then suddenly!!! DEATH BY COLLISION
WHAT'DE???? H** happened???
did apperently collide to somebody but!!!
1. the chance to collide is so little cos theres plenty of roome to sail beside me
2. the time didnt slow down

Is up to you. Some people loves IX, some people loves VII, some people loves both, some people hates IX, some people hates VII...

take a ride and if you don't like it after a couple of patrols, recover the patrol in wich you exchanged your sub http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

That depends on a lot of factors. Being as unbiased as possible (I'm an IXC junkie), I can say that if it's power and longevity of patrols that you're looking for... go with an IXC. If it's agility and faster dive times (a must against aircraft) go with the VIIC.

As far as the collision at sea, you have to refrain from using a high time compression in a congested harbor. Just like driving a car, the sea has a "Rules of the Road". If you have time and are interested in "Rules of the Road", check out this link:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Regulations_...ng_Collisions_at_Sea (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Regulations_for_Preventing_Collision s_at_Sea)

I use it in the game and not once have I had an at-sea collision.

The good, old 'death by collision' http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/1072.gif

Used to get that 50% of the time when leaving port - primarily from Brest or Lorient. Had me snookered as to why...and WHAT I was colliding with, since the Nav Map never showed anyone/anything near me.
After the 4th or 5th incident, I started thinking that perhaps the collision had been with something BELOW the surface, rather than ON the surface...either a sub or a wreck. I repeated the 'career mission/patrol', and kept at ahead slow. I went to the external camera, and lowered it to get a fish-eye view UNDER the sub. At Brest, I had exited the base right smack dab into the middle of a mine-field. From Lorient, if you bear right out of the harbor, and try to head to open waters between the large island and the mainland, your collision occurs with a submarine net.

Well, it was assumed that you had a map of these things so you wouldnt hit them. If you didnt find that in the manual, you arent alone!

9c in my opinion is the best boat, early in the war it has enough AA power and the 105mm cannon works over destroyers pretty good, so far the AA upgrades seem to counter the increased threat just fine and them "extra" torpedoes gained over the type 7s makes for some really nice tonnage patrols which enable you to upgrade expotentially both the boat and the crew performance over the 7 series boats. So far aircraft haven't really posed that much of a threat since the first crewmen I "upgraded" with medal were the gunners and WO.

There should be a picture named Brest.jpg in your documentation folder that shows the position of the mines and nets.
