Any clue as to when they'll release the demo? And on the website it says 'loading teaser site'. What's the full site gonna include?

There is presently no word on the release of a demo at all, and I imagine its release will depend largely on whether Cyan has time to make one and still stay on-track with the game itself. I would say give it another couple of months, since the game isn't even due out for at least another 3 months, assuming they hit a September release date.

As far as the full EoA website is concerned, my guess would be that, like the Revelation site before it, there will be more screenshots, a few desktops for download, and more involved details about the characters, if not the plot itself. However, I've no idea when they plan to launch it... news out of Ubi has been slow of late.

The Myst 5 demo is to be released at the end of July.

I have news. On the Myst V demo, it is tentatively scheduled for the second half of August release!

Another month...wow. I guess I won't be holding my breath on downloading it by the end of the week, like I was hoping! Although disappointed, if it gets out the glitches, I can wait. Then after the demo, only like 3 weeks until release!

Hopefully, this won't push back the delivery date. I hope not.

Gee, ya think? When was the last time demos & games were released on time? Early guesstimates are just that.

Coronagold, you're right. I had that gut feeling when I read that. At least Cyan tells us ahead of time & just doesn't delay things without telling anyone. Too many games/movies are just hushed up after due date without explanation.

I'm leading an expedition to Ubisoft to retrieve this demo early. We're going to need some black shoe polish, ropes, a bottle of whisky, a crowbar, several paper clips and a rubber chicken. Who's with me? WHO'S WITH ME??!!!!

I'd say your efforts would be better-spent going to Cyan, but don't expect the demo to be ready when you get there... it's not like they got it done on time and simply decided to sit on it for 3 more weeks. If it's been delayed it's because there's still things to work out with it. Taking a complete game and cutting it down to a small, self-contained area independent of everything else in the game for demo release is harder than you might think. Puzzles may have to be changed, re-designed, or removed altogether. Gameplay elements may also need to be modified. Please just be patient... they're working as hard as they can to get both the demo and the game completed on time.

That's not enough! I demand satisfaction, even if the demo comes with a pair of scissors, a bottle of glue, handwritten instructions and a crankshaft to start the engine! Evidenly, their slaves aren't willing enough to do 24hour days... I say more whipping! MORE WHIPPING!

LOL http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif. Yeah, I'm chomping at the bit to try the demo but I know they're trying their hardest to get everything perfect, so I can wait...I think...

Not sure if you guys have heard this. I have more bad news. Mysterium.ch (http://www.mysterium.ch/endo***es/endo***es_news_e.html) posted that on top of the standard Myst V edition being PC-only, the demo will not be released until September. Good ol' Ubi. Here's to a long wait... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

To those eagerly anticipating MV & the demo.........you're all nuts. ( http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif ) Never hang around waiting. All deadlines get pushed back. It's not like the game was cancelled. (Recalls Uru Live.)

Hey, every day it's pushed bac means another cool element of beauty was added. If I were Paul Senior on this job, I'd say, "The heck with the deadline, let's stun the h#ll out of these people one year later." I'd keep working till next September.

I know, I know, that's not economically viable. But as a customer who truly enjoys the beauty of a 5+ year built Myst game, I'd wait.

Boshettee was once human like you or me, but he became twisted by the Myst demo, tortured, changed. Now it is all he desires.

But do not revile him. He is a creature to be pitied, not scorned.

It is, precious to him.

now they said the demo won't be out until september. why are they releasing the demo and the game in the same month?

Mysthints
08-06-2005, 09:49 AM
Mainly so those in doubt can download it to make sure it runs smoothly on their systems. More for "testing", not for a preview.

You know dark city, for an awful lot of games, the demo isn't released until after the retail release. And for same games no demo is released at all, and adventure games are usually the ones that go without demos because of the troubles of isolating a part of a full story, etc. etc.

So I'm pretty happy that we're getting a demo at all, as well as getting it before release time. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

As far as I understand it is free to download, otherwise the site would tell you to first register and such.
I get the notice server too busy, so I think it likely that many fans try to download the demo. Have to wait till the USA sleeps I think http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-mad.gif http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif But the demo is there!

ZeusmeisterX007

It tells a small amount of the story and lets you solve one of the first puzzles, but that is about it.

DudeMiester

I just did the demo, and I am incredibly disapointed. The only merits were good precomputed lighting and animation. The puzzle was boring, the movement unnatural, the collision detection frustrating (I even fell out of the map once). In short, I will not be buying this game.

ZeusmeisterX007
08-25-2005, 10:08 AM
I don't think I'm gonna buy it either until it gets cheap. Thirty dollars sounds like my max offer. I'm not gonna pay fifty. You can't just keep makin less than great games and slappin a Myst sticker on em and expect me to pay $40 and $50 bucks each time.

Ciris
08-25-2005, 04:50 PM
I never buy any game for over $30. I'll probably be waiting until January to buy this game.

ZeusmeisterX007

I don't buy games over $30 often, but I'd pay $60 for Age of Empires 3.

I had a look at the Myst 5 demo and I must say I am hugely disappointed. It is a copy and paste of URU and that€s all.

The creatures in the background are static, you cannot jump around in the freaking game, the puzzles are lame and the voices of the people are stupid. The tablet thing half works and is a waste of time, what is up with that.

The characters look like they are floating 1 cm above the ground. There are graphic problems here and there. The character faces looks like they have been stretched and their facial textures look horrible. The rain is pretty lame and I don't see any audio clues. When you move around in 3D free mode you

don€t hear footsteps and it looks like you are running on smooth butter, way to fast. I am afraid it might look like it is going to be a short game like URU.
