View Full Version : 109 choice in dogfight servers

I never know which 109 to take when choosing between, say, F4 and G2 or between G6A/S, G10, G14 and K/4.

Overall, and taking into account all of the allied aircraft that would present in the time periods in which the different marks of 109 are represented, which is the best choice?

I'm not interested in arguments saying such-and-such is good against X but bad against Y because its extremely unlikely you'll face just X or Y in a df server such as Warclouds.

In other words, which would you take and why?

F4 handles very nicely. G6 A/S is a nice compromise between handling and firepower.G10 is good also. For some reason i just dont get on with the K4.

Here it is; K4 is best Bf-109 in game (speed + RoC performance), followed by
G10, G6AS - G14, G6LATE, G2, G6, F4, F2, E7Z, E4.

At least that is my usual priority list although I often do not choose Bf-109s in that order.

The best dogfighter ( dont know why these model) is G-2. K-4 is very good in speed and climb. And G6 A/S is good compromise betwen G-2 and K-4.

It all depend of your style of flying realy. I fell the same with the k4 doesn't cut it for me , when i fly the 109 i listen to the engine rv etc.. the k4 remind me the la7 or 5 doesn't give you the good feed back IMO.
Test all of them with Your style of flying adopt some good settings for your controls and develop a good anderstanding of the choosen plane capabilities and fly.

Id take a G2! Folowed by a G6. I dont get on with -K's either, too heavy!

i'd rather take the F4 over the G2, if only for the better view... the F4 is a good match-up for contemporan fighters, and tactics can compensate for the G2's performance.

Since I only fly red planes, please take the Emil. Thank you.

109G2 is a very good dogfighter , it has a retractable tail wheel, but only 7.92mm mgs.

The G6A/S is quite good too.

I guess it depends if you like the MK108 or not, I'm not a big fan of it, and prefer the 20mm as you get more ammo...I tend to sparay a lot at the moment as I have got a joystick quite recently for the first time and am finding it hard to aim. (having to learn all over again) so I find the mk108 ammo is gone after a few shots...

I will take the F4, G2 or G6A/S.

Whit each next version bf109 becomes less a turn fighter, so f4 and g2 can be regarded as some of the best turn-and-broom fighters in the game. Of course turning is not everything in air combat (if that was truth , modern airfoces would still fly biplanes http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif), but turn fighting is basically simpler so players whit less experience finds it easier to jump in a such a furbal together whit early spits, P40 and such other planes.

But if some one comes (dives) whit a FW190 or a P47, hm...

Thanks for the thoughts so far. What I really meant was that there are two situations/planesets that I'm thinking about:

1. Up to '42 - F4 or G2
2. Late war eg '44 so its a choice of the G6A/S, G10, G14 and K14.

Which is the best overall choice in each situation?

I quote myself (lol, how vain) from http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/26310365/m/8311086963/:
<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-title">quote:</div><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-content">The K4 is the fastest and best climber but overheats quite quickly, while the G6/AS is the most agile. The G10 is a compromise between those two. It was an attempt to bring older, repairable Gustavs up to the standard of the K-4 in the cheapest manner possible. These three are the most popular BF109 models online. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

The G14 you can ignore it. The number is misleading.

I get on well with the G2, i've quite often had 5,6, even 7 against me in it before. keep her at about 270 mph and she rolls and turns rather nicely. Nice enough to the point where I've I had pilots kill themselves in manoeuvers trying to get me http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Amen to that...G2 seems to be the best fighter, It can turn with spit mk5's if you use combat flaps. Maybe its the retractable tail wheel http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Although I'd probably take the G6A/S over the G6 http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

EDIT : Oooops, I've replied to this already yesterday, doh...ahh well http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I get on well with the F4. To me it is the ultimate "knife fighter" of the bunch. What it lacks in guns, it makes up in agility. Seems that the guns hit a LOT harder than they used to as well.

I rarely play online, so take this advice for whatever you want to.

I prefer the K4. The G10 is nice too.

G2 is my favorite for the early/mid period. Very good performance and the poor reward visibility can be compensated for by s-turning.

Late war I'd go with the G-6A/S. I suppose the K is really the top performer but its kind of hard to know how to fight with it. Using boom and zoom tactics you run into the plane's relatively poor high speed handling and its too heavy to be a very good turn fighter. If you get to the point where you need the performance of a K model you might as well go for a 190D or even an A8/9.

Exactly Bigbear, I agree.

Better to take a FW190D if its a late war server with K4 as its usually there too.

Masses of ammo and speed.

When I'm on a server where all the action as at flower top height, (most DF servers it seems) I prefer the F-4. Great visibilty, and it handles well low and slow.
