View Full Version : Will no longer be an active member of the community...

10-27-2004, 06:57 PM
I regret to say it, but it is finally happening. It is not that my love for aviation has died, and nor is it that my love for this game series has died. I just can't go any further while I'm so tied up like this. I have papers due for school, research due elsewhere (gov't specific) and my own personal feelings and problems to deal with. This game has become secondary to what I must deal with in life. I am proud of the active role I played in 3D model research, and am also proud of the person I eventually became by being in this online community. I learned to take risks, meet people. But now that I have done that, my life is a shambles because the people met and grew to love are now gone, at college, starting off the adult part of their lives. I'm not parting completely from the community, but I am no longer the big IL2 guy I once was. I'll leave you with a bit of writing I recently did, about how close I am to some of these friends, please take it metaphorically, I am not suicidal. It's a short exercise I do to help write poetry. Two small, meaningful paragraphs, followed by verse. All of these 3 must start with the same phrase. This is called: Rescinding are the Waters Now,

Rescinding are the waters now, slowly they will return. Old acquaintances, people passing by, but not the people I love. I am barred by duties from seeing those that I call close to me. I am disheartened, aching, longing to see their faces again. Pictures do not do my love justice. I do not want a thousand words. I want trillions.
Rescinding are the waters now, my wrists slit and blood freely flowing. With each beating of my heart my blood drips softly from me. And yet I do not grow ill. I need not the blood to keep my heart, but only water. And as I look at the people I have grown to love the thicker this water shall grow. It will run through my veins a new blood, more powerful than the one I felt before.

Rescinding are the waters now,
Depressing feelings dig my grave,
Drowning down within my sadness,
The years throw out another wave.

I hope you can find some enlightenment in that. Dosvidanya, my fair community. I hope not that I shall darken thy doorstep in the future.

Sorry to see you go Boosher http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif I can understand your reasoning. Because of personal commitments, and other projects, I rarely get to visit the boards anymore. Hope to see you back someday. Pop in now and again just to let us know how you are doing. Good Luck http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif May you have fair winds, and following seas in your future.

RIDE RUDE, little brother.

I've always enjoyed your input. You are indeed wise beyond your years.

Get things sorted out to your satisfaction and may your reach always exceed your grasp.

Stop by when you can.

Nice to have 'met' you Boosher.

As others have said RL will always get in the way eventually.

Rescinding are the waters now
Stirring stuff indeed...

Take care.

Take care, Boosher. Your path might wander from here for a time, but I hope you reach your detination, and remember, it's the journey that counts. Don't forget to enjoy the journey, and I have a feeling you'll get to where you want to be, even if the landscape is not how you imagined it would be, the journey will be worth it. Stop by anytime, you're always welcome.

It's a big circle...you'll likely be back around this way soon enough.

Reevaluating priorities is always a tough thing to do.

10-28-2004, 07:18 AM
PBNA-Boosher, I know how you feel... R\L has a tendency to do that to a person. If the choice is between IL2/Fb and R/L then there is no choice but Real life whether we like it or not.

Good luck, hope to see ya again some day...

10-28-2004, 07:28 AM
Good luck Boosh, all journeys start with the first step.Hope to see you in the future, take care friend.

10-28-2004, 07:59 AM
While I'm glad to see you have more sense than many flight-simmers who continue their habit as it wrecks their marriage, job, life in general, I'll miss your posts here man. Come back soon!

10-28-2004, 08:17 AM
We have a saying in this part of the world;

May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand.

Remember that the more realism settings you enable, the less real the sim is! Put your flaps on a slider, because if a real Spitfire pilot could have variable combat flaps, he would use them! So exploit the game in the name of realism!!

10-28-2004, 09:38 AM
Good luck man, I've not been a member for long, but seeing somebody leave is a sad thing. But indeed life has priority over gaming!

Good call, PBNA_Boosher. Keep your priorities straight and you can always rejoin the melee later. "See you" when you get back. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

So long for now comrade! This community will never be the same as it was...

10-28-2004, 07:14 PM
Live moves on and circles back. You will return either here or down the road when we are all playing a newer version of this genre.

RL first any way.

Good luck

I sure hope it ain't my Daughter your chasing though You seem to sensitive for me to take Hunting LOL

10-29-2004, 06:10 AM
Let me make sumthin clear tho! I am not giving up on Lilya and the Nachthexen campaign project. I will force those through before I die, no doubt about it. They are very important to me.
Toad, I own two assault rifles, dude. Legally now. Your shotgun ain't no match for my range and power! I trained myself in camo and learned to kill at 3.

Put it this way. It's not your daughter I'm chasin, but if it was, she'd be well protected.

10-29-2004, 03:40 PM

Hope to see you here again Boosher.

Nice verse too. Very well crafted. Love the last line.

Be Well!

10-30-2004, 07:34 AM
Ah man, happy for you but sad for us.

Since I've been part of this community I've always looked forward to your posts. But you are doing the right thing, priorities and reality.
In a few days I'll be off to Germany for a 4 month training program in my company. I found myseldf shopping around for ram to upgrade my laptop so I wouldn't be without the game. Then it occurred, I must be nuts.
The laptop will remain impotent at 256mb and my game will collect 4 months of dust. I will take this time to improve myself rather than my game skills. I'll quit smoking, exercise, study hard, and just enjoy the clean air.
I've lost too many hours to this game, partially cause my desktop pc desparately needs an upgrade. I'm sure my wife will appreciate my decision also.
Anyways, good luck buddy, thx.
