The Mossie didnt have rockets back in 1942 and we have a - say what - 1942 Mossie

From Prangster's own mouth (I hope he won't mind me quoting him to help sort this out);

"Oleg has modeled the early Merlin 21 engines so the speed is correct. When the Norway map is released we should get a Rocket armed Merlin 25 powered version that will be 25 mph faster."

thanks for the explanation. I like many, had looked forward to a fast, rocket firing Mossie. For now though I will enjoy the 1942 version.

Thanks Oleg and team!

The speed is not correct. Even with the Mk21 Merlin the Mossie could achieve speeds up to 360-380 mph with 1/2 fuel and ammuntion. You cannot achieve more than 260-280 in testing.

The fastest aircraft about in '42 cannot even catch a damn FW190.

Will the mossie have the flair ammo, just to be able to try some historical night bombing missions, at least with the B25?

Napalm, and VAP models can't be used because they disappear too fast.

If not so, just an idea for BOB.

Hi Hamish,

It sound like you are using the IAS speeds rather than TAS. The top speed for the merlin 21 equiped FB MkVI was 611kph at 13,200ft. I took a quick speed test and reached 611kph (390mph) at 13,200ft. So it seems the PF Mosquito is absolutely spot on for top speed.

I tested on the Crimea map at 12:00 noon with 100% fuel and ammo (no bombs).

When/if we get the new Mosquito, I hope we'll get the model that has the 6 pounder anti-shipping cannon and perhaps the 4000lb bomb as well.

T'would be loverly! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/heart.gif
