Your watch can identify a target some distance away initially, but even if you close in on that location there are no further/constant updating? I mean if I could see the vessel 40 km away why not 30, 20, 10 . . . ? Seems odd to me. I have to conclude that the game designers feel this is necessary to add difficulty in gameplay?

BTW playing at 94% realism presently (using Weapons Officer for targeting - and he's been sucking badly - 4 patrols and no tonnage yet http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/cry.gif ).

Because it was not your watch crew but the Hq that radioed you those contacts. You can only see targets to a distance of about six kilometers. Have you also turne of map actualization in the realism settings?

OK this makes more sense to me. I am using the default Realism settings minus allowing the Weapons Officer to provide solution.

Still struggling with interceptions but I think it is coming. Was attacked by a destroyer and armed trawler last night, dove and managed to escape.

Man those "pings" are unnerving! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif Was great fun even though I still need to sink something. Love using my observation scope underwater to evade destroyers' depth charges.
