I have seen a few people asking about the songs used in the ACB trailers..

So here's a start:

<UL TYPE=SQUARE>
Story Trailer Royksopp Forever by Royksopp (http://www.youtube.com/user/assassinscreedUK?blend=2&ob=1#p/search/0/Yfw4WbnVqjg)

E3 Multiplayer Trailer We Want War by These New Puritas (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h1lsUSiV4p8)

60s Champions League TV Ad Pass Out by Tinie Tempah (http://www.youtube.com/user/assassinscreedUK?blend=2&ob=1#p/u/1/2kbwsbvJ7oM)

Enter Rome Trailer Burn My Shadow by UNKLE (http://www.youtube.com/user/assassinscreedUK?blend=2&ob=1#p/u/14/R9RvqCq9624)

[/list]

Please artist's add as spotted - this thread is not a replacement for the trailer video threads - simply to chat about the music used http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Also - for my own personal amusement - which songs /trailers have you guy enjoyed the most?

Discuss http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

[My favorite so far - the Story trailer http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif]

Best Trailer footage wise was the Story Trailer for me. But for the music Burn My Shadow Away was the best song http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

When are we going to hear some Jesper Kyd? Like the music in the cinematic E3 trailer, the choral bit at the start was beautiful.

The Story was my favourite trailer so far in terms of cinematography and music but the one I actually enjoyed watching the most was the Gamescon 2010 Footage (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X3i-PNcOAKo&hd=1) with the Irish dude doing the voice over.

I loved that too. Hate when they add some crapy "yo dawg lets get high" music

This is why it's important to add appropriate music to trailers in order to draw players into the game world, which is what Ubi did excellently in the first AC2 teaser. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A7JYCmjhHw4) When they start adding other artists music - especially music that doesn't fit the game world - it basically says to me that the devs are losing creativity.

The first AC1 trailer didn't have an artist playing. Though they did on the first gameplay trailer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vcaSVvsFauQ)(came out 2nd). I think having music by other artist sometimes gives a good insight of what the story might be or sometimes gives it a different vibe.

Movie trailers usually don't always use music from the actual movie and look how well movie trailers do (well some of them)

I understand what your saying though, it's always good to have at least some trailer have at least some actual game score in it. I'm guessing thats what they usually do on there first teasers or trailer.

No idea if this counts, but I LOVE the music for the E3 trailer, specifically when the other Assassins appear.

Movies are different from games though, and should remain apart (something which Hollywood (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kane_%26_Lynch_(film)) needs (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prince_of_Persia:_The_Sands_of_Time_(film)) to (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hitman_(2007_film)) understand) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BloodRayne_(film)).

When it comes to cinematic/CGI trailers devs have no choice but to put their own audio into it, otherwise it would just look silly. When it comes to other gameplay trailers though it's best to use fitting music as much as possible. Even if it's not part of the game soundtrack (like this one (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yp_AlOMcdjw)) it should at least suit the game's atmosphere or story. Even for general gameplay vids the devs should use appropriate music to suit the atmosphere (there was a trailer of AC1 that did this well but I can't find it anywhere because youtube is getting polluted by too many AC2 vids... it was way back in the day where Altair rides into Acre, a guard yells "Assassin!", he escapes onto a rooftop and assassinates William de Monteferrat). It's only when there have been enough trailers with 'atmospheric' music that the devs should start using popular music to appeal to casual gamers. AC1 did this with only 2 vids that I can recall, one was with 'Lonely Soul' and the other was an original composition by Jesper Kyd (which at least shows they have some creativity). Similarly, they only did this once with AC2 with the 'Genesis' gameplay trailer. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m6ccpu7RAZ4)

But from what we've seen of AC:B so far I've only heard original music once in the E3 cinematic trailer - which was compulsory, being cinematic and all. All the rest was by other artists I've never heard of and don't enjoy listening to, there's very little atmosphere in AC:B when compared to previous titles (giving me less of a reason to give a hoot). As well as the new style of gameplay, the music's only purpose is to appeal to casual gamers. I've said it before and I'll say it again: "Stop trying to appeal to casual gamers Ubi, that's what Nintendo's for!"

I know that was my favorite part too!

In that case i agree with you. I usually like the music that fits with the trailers or teasers, whether it's jesper kyd or some other song (like the TGS trailer). I wouldn't mind if ubi did make a Lonely soul trailer at least once but if they plan to make more vids off of one title, i wouldnt mind seeing more epic music that goes with the game.

Either way though, so far i have been impressed with the trailers and the music they have chosen for it. The only one i wasn't so excited for was the Visions of Venice trailer that had Justice in the background, it felt to upbeat, yet either way i grew to like it.

The only 'external' song I liked in any of the AC trailers was Teardrop, in one of the ACI trailers.
