Ok, I'm being DC'd for the first time by 2 destroyers, and was wondering if they have a limit to the amount of DCs they have? They've been on my tail for about 2 hours now and show no signs of letting up.

I know the evasion techniques - go (s)low etc., but I was wondering - do these guys have a limit or do they just do it until they get bored?

If they're elite, they have no limit of DC. Also, they may be even more patient than you.

I also recall reading somewhere here that DD's have a preset length of time that they will hunt you for, before leaving the area. Don't quote me on this - perhaps a fellow Kaleun will confirm or deny....<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I believe that is correct. 15 minutes they will hunt you then move on. I never been hunted for over 2 hours if I'm attempting to move away.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

The last thing I heard as the British boarded my boat, "Boot hoch halten sonst wird keiner gerettet!"....Keep the boat afloat or no one will be rescued! My war was over....

The criterion before they move off is not absolute length of time hunting you, but time since they last established a firm contact on you. I think the time between last firm contact and moving off depends on their elite status. The more qualified they are, the longer it takes for them to give up. May be as little as 15 min. for poor/novice, as much as 45 min. (real time, not game time) for veteran/elite.
If during that period they manage to re-acquire you, the time counter starts afresh, so 2h real time - and longer - is quite possible.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Thanks Bootsmann - That is what I recall but couldn't remember the finer details.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Yes Bootsmann's response seems accurate to me too, the time frame mentioned is similar to my experiences.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Ok, well after running at 1 knot for half an hour - they all left me alone!
