Hello!

First - I LOVE YOUR WORK, DEVTEAM! SH3 will become the game I always hoped for! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/11.gif

Please don't see me as an smart a$$. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
I really like the Uboat-Interior, you recreated!! (but) Here are some suggestion to the Type VIIc Interior:

I miss the 'housing' of the attack-persicope in the Control-Room! There should be a huge cylinder where the attack-periscope is stored in (aft next to the ladder that leads to the tower). -see picture:

http://www.uboot-netz.de/purepublic/U995control.jpg

In the E3-Democlip we see the segment where the radio-room is. When we look foward in the boat we look directly onto the torpedoroom-door. But there should be the officers-quarters and the mess-room.
If the devteam does not plan to make this area accessable, i would be very happy to at least SEE this area. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Interesting. Lovely pictures BTW http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I agree with you it would be nice to see, and it would make it so much more authentic - however, given the functionality shown off in the demos and movies, there already such a ****load going on. I think they should rather concentrate on quality rather than quantity (eye candy http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif )

Another thingie: in the trailers I saw that the periscope was in all models in the Zentrale's stern part and I think that it actually was in the bow part.

The best thing the Dev team could do is to model the U-boat in a way we have the posibility to freely "walk around" the boat, from one comparment to another, if possible, PERSONALY I would accept what it takes to make that possibly (money or time or both) because I think its a main feature a U-boat simulation must have!!!. Hope they do it

yeah i noticed the missing of the cilinder and the wrong placement of the persiscope . i think its because the devs team said they were gonna model only one scope . i allways thought there was something strange with the compartment where the sonar and stuff is located . i can live with the periscope thing , but i hope they will fix the torpedo door thing.

Erich, I agree totally. There's not much point modelling most of the interior if you can't even walk around in it.

It's supposed to be a "u-boat captain simulator" apparantly rather than a u-boat sim like SHII, but how can you feel like a captain of a u-boat when you're confined to fixed camera points inside?

It makes you still feel like you're a submarine. Not a man in a submarine, but a submarine, and it'd be a pity if they modelling the interior only to have most of the point of it wasted. It couldn't possibly be that hard to implement either, and I'd definetely wait another month or 2 for it, I'd prefer it to a dynamic campaign because to be quite honest I hated the SH1 campaign.

I felt like I was the only one in the ocean and never really saw anyone but in SHII it was fun, if repetitive. But maybe before changing the way the surroundings of the game, they should focus on the game mechanics first and get the u-boat experience correct. THEN make interesting situations.

Go play Doom or go to the park if you want to walk around!
Where did you see that it was "supposed to be a u-boat captain simulator" rather than a u-boat sim like SHII"???? You had better get your facts straight!
'I'd prefer it to a dynamic campaign'---Are you kidding? Go play PONG since you want to do the same thing over and over and over again! Go ahead and post that a few more times and see how many people TOTALLY DISAGREE with you!http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v325/hauitsme/Grumble.gif

Well, I must say that Dyn. Camp. is a great thing, but how would you get in it if you had no U-Boot, no sound or no graphics? I think that Dyn. Camp. should be the last thing to do because of the time it takes and because you can't play any campaign or mission without any instrument.

Hallo Erich und Hauitsme,

Actually, I agree with both of you. First of all I do think that the dynamic aspect of the game is the most important Hauitsme, but I am pretty sure that is a non-issue now as we know that the Devs are working on it. However, with Erich I do agree with I would like to be able to "walk" around in a completely modeled sub. It's not a "Doom" thing Hauitsme, it's about attempting to recreate a historical situation and, in this case, a historical sub.

It would add to the immersion factor a great deal. I am not saying it is a do-or-die aspect of the game, but if the Devs can it this feature, IMHO it would make an already awesome game even better.

Why would you settle for an awesome game when can even go that tiny bit further and make it better?

I know that the Devs can't do everything and that is ok, but please let us at least listen to each other politely and realize that we all, I think in this forum at least, want a great game.

Final Thought - You both have good points. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Peace

Both would be nice; heck, everything would be nice, but if I had to make a choice between the dynamic campaign and anything else, the campaign would win every time. Being able to walk around in the boat while playing the same 20 missions over and over would bring the same complaints that hurt SHII so badly, while the dynamic campaign is what keeps us playing and praising AOD after more than 10 years, in spite of the dated graphics and sound.

Great Observation Sailor Steve! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I agree with you.

(Still would like ASWAD and fully modeled sub though, but only AFTER fully functioning and awesome dynamic campaign.)

I would never hear the end of it if ASWAD and a fully modelled sub came out, but the dynamic part was lacking. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

So please Devs - Dynamic first!

Then ASWAD and fully modelled interior http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

If you want to 'walk' around you should have to take every step, duck going through hatches(you could only forget to do it once or twice before getting a concussion), stand back up, raise each arm and leg while climbing, reach for handholds, turn/raise/lower your head to change viewpoints, etc.

No, you just want a 'floating' camera to browse through the sub(fully detailed, of course). You want a fully detailed crew doing everything it does too. Don't forget you want every single item on the sub that gets damaged to be modelled in its damaged state so you can see it being repaired. Also you want to see the cook preparing your meals. And the flys and roaches too. Can't forget the 'head' being fully rendered with 'floaties'!!

GET REAL

How many years are you willing to wait? Your gonna need a 10GB video card running DX25 too.

As U-551 Kapitan says:'I still think if this is to be a U-boat captain simulator and not a U-boat simulator then we should be able to go everywhere. How realistic would it be if they skipped out the bunks when you went to the hydrophones? If it's a U-boat sim you want, you should stick to SHII'

RIGHT, No need for anything to do but 'walk' around and look at all the pretty things. No need for various enemy/ally ships or harbors, forget the aircraft off the Carriers(unless we can get in and 'walk' around), definitely don't need any more ships(we can't 'walk' on them either), etc.

To whom you're talking to? I only suggested this missing interior details... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

But I think about this whole 'free moving' thing: Moving in a room would be okay. But i think clicking on a hatch to move to the next room is totally okay.
