From memory it was an old Qantas aircraft that did the Pacific island route in the 50's and 60's, sorry my memory wont allow for specifics past last weekend http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif

There's one at Hendon, at least there was in 1981.

The Sunderland at Hendon was there in '99, so I'd expect it to still be there. Quite a big bird, one of the few you can actually enter at RAF Hendon.

I really have to revisit Hendon soon, or at the next Flying Legends!

The one at Hendon is still there and you can still crawl around inside, had to push some pesky kids out the way though http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/59.gif.

This ones at Kermit Week's "Fantasy of Flight" at Polk City, Florida. You can go inside.(Thats my eldest lad at the top of the gangway about to go in and the ever patient Mrs at the bottom). It was used as an airliner until a few years ago. Its scheduled to be restored.

A magnificent aircraft.

Had a lenghty post war service, Berlin airlift, Malay Emergency, Korean war, the RNZAF used it until 1967. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif

This is an interesting pic, seen it in a book and nice to find it on the web.

It's taken from a Sunderland bombing a train in Thailand in '45.
