You did so much for the community, with il2center, help working on PF etc.. Im just wondering why you are not part of the community like you use to be since il2 sturmovik.

Just make some bogus email address that you wont check, tell people to complain there instead of bombarding forums questions at you if you decide to start posting here again. Just dont reply to them.

Be a part of the community again gansta!

Luthier, from what I've seen and heard, burned one too many bridges and dropped one too many balls for some important people.

Before he posted about Oleg's car accident, pretty much nobody I know of had seen or heard from him since shortly before PF shipped.

I wonder if Oleg traded him to Northrop Grumman to settle the legal thing. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

It is a shame....we would not have any PTO content at all if not for Ilya.

I know alot was promised - but if we just go by what we ultimately got, missing planes and ships aside...we still got alot.

I for one, am happy to be able to practice carrier take offs and landings in various conditions...that alone can be a good diversion for hours at a time.

Too bad things didn't work out exactly the way Ilya and the rest of us wanted - but what does?

I was very disapointed that we got PTO... I always thought that the MTO would have been much more interesting. And it has carriers too.

See he wasn't allowed to do that. Oleg said that MTO will come after BoB and that doing it twice was not what he wanted to do.

I'm happy to have gotten the PTO. I just wish that the plan had prioritized certain elements more than was done. As it stands, we have maps without planes and planes without maps (not quite to that extreme but close).

Still a noble effort.

Ilya had a really dry sense of humor...kinda miss those particularly prickly postings of his.

And Oleg made a point of stating that the MTO was reserved for future BoB addon...quite early on if I recall.

Same here.....no offence but just be happy they did what they did (ie. dropped the ball) with the PTO and not with the MTO. With the gained experience of the blunder that was pacific fighters (specially before recent/upcoming patches), one can logically assume that the MTO will be done properly following BOB.

Just don't put Elvis in charge of MTO.....please? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/cry.gif

well, with some italian planes coming I guess a kind-of MTO will be around while we await the real thing...of course no real good maps.

I guess Ilya is the guy I have to thank for PF, without which I wouldn't even be into Il2 at all. Whatever mistakes he may or may not of made, sure glad he did it.

You don't think Oleg&team will make a PTO after BoB with the new game engine? I'm kinda hopeing they will make it what PF should have been.

Oleg will return to Pacific but after BoB and The Meds. Last year Oleg said return to Easter Front in "7 years."

I was never interested in Pacific WAR until PF releace. Now I read much about Pacific. Thanks Luthier and Oleg even if Oleg (and pdog) Hate the Pacific. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif

Three months divided by two weeks equals six weeks. Seven years times six weeks equals what? Forty two years? I'll probably be dead by then.

Add my thanks to Ilya, who seems to have been the forgotten developer since PF came out. Despite it's shortcomings, I'm still glad he convinced Oleg to venture onto the Pacific. Pacific > Med anyday, for me. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Yes the Med had carriers too, but not US Navy. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif Bad from a marketing standpoint.

So, you never heard of operation Torch then? Where US carriers aided the US landings into North Africa?

Let me clarify my earlier statement.

While I have my own personal feelings about Ilya (they're not horrible)--mostly related to events during the development of PF--I'm sure he's a great guy and very personable.

My worry is that he showed a tendency during PF to bite off a whole hell of a lot more than he could chew, and that he severely lacked the orginizational skills / experience to lead a project of such a scope.

I think it'd be best for him to scale back, at least for now, to something like Ian Boys was doing--a 4 or 5 man team doing a map project like Kurland or a single, complex aircraft like a medium bomber, torpedo plane. Or maybe a small, specific group of ships--battleships, carriers, destroyers, cruisers, frigates, shipping traffic, PT boats, whatever. Something that would let him build up better coordination and management skills without getting in over his head.

I DO wish he'd get back into the community--he's a funny, funny guy. Anybody remember the zombies? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I think, but not sure, that Luthier modded TB-3 and I-16. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif Two of my Fave sim planes of all time. I would be Happy if Luthier could mod I-16 type10 and TB-3 with AM-34RN and FRN engines -- they say it could almost do 300km/hr. Oleg should create Special Design Brigade for 3D Modder, 20 hour work days, supervised by guards, with no releace until prototype model ships to Moscow, like what happened to Petalyakov and V-100, and Polikarpov and I-5.
