Evening all. An I-16 vs. a Val QMB match I just fought -

The rear gunner got his panties in a bunch and exitted the ship:

...and no wonder, given that his pilot was as dead as a duck at this point:

Now I seem to remember that some people claim that the AI gunners never jump unless their pilot does it first. Well, I'd like to disagree with that if you don't mind awfully http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Maybe this, too, changed with the latest patch?

AI gunners have always been able to bail if the pilot was killed.

I think what people found/find annoying was that if the pilot is killed while the Player was controlling a gunposition the Player is not able to bail out.

Ah-ha, now that could very well be, and my recollections of this particular issue are just wrong... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif The old age creepin' in perchance?

Well, considering the number of issues that has been brought up concerning the AI, I.....what was the question? Where am I? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/touche.gif

woaw those gore pics must be old then? or you have il-2 vanilla still on your drive?

No high gore mode works in 1946 aswell.

But if you are the pilot the other AI in ths ship will not bail out until you do. They can't. But if it's a totally AI ship, any individual survivor can bail at their virtual will.

The blood is a little bright in those gore shots, but I say better than nothing.. I just wish there was some consistancy over the planes in the game, most gunners show no sign of being "limp", and I think only a couple german planes have the neon red blood splats?

I would atleast like to have every gunners head bob down when he dies to know that he is dead, can make attacking from the rear a little easier if you know a gunner is out of commision.

Anyone remember what enabling high-gore was like in Janes WW2 Fighters? Your blood would get splattered all over the cockpit glass sometimes when you got injured, which I think really helped with the immersion. I can understand why alot of people dont like the gore mode, but it's a nice realistic config check for those who want it enabled.

Hey, I think it was taken out b/c this shining light of the mankind of ours a.k.a. the EU security / nanny state thinks it's a bit non-PC http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif

The gore-mode works for all (i think) planes with the {forbidden mod}. Thats because it uses the Russian exe and the gore was never disabled in the Russian version, in fact it was expanded.
(Please don't ban me, no links here posted by me, I just wanted to clarify where I think those pics came from (46).) Its really nice to have a confirmation for a pilot- or gunner kill.

I`ve always advocated realistic visuals of injuries in IL2 and never understood how people want to fly realistic WWII aircraft in a realistic war, yet not have depictions of blood. In quite a few books I`ve read how pilots have had to struggle on flying with blood coming down one arm, or leg or face..

A lot WWII simulation fliers seem to be a squeamish bunch.

To hear that the Russian version had it, but it was canned for the rest of us is depressing... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

Gunners by nature were craven, cowardly poltroons who booked before their pilots. I have this on authority of an internet website run by a teenage girl with a crush on BOB the SOW.

Gore probably would have fetched the game up with an R rating, or something, in the U.S., and hurt sales to minors.
