View Full Version : Why can't I turn off Tips in multiplayer?

I've been on my menu section in multiplayer and turned off Tips.

Unfortunately, they still pop up about every fourth game or so. Why?

They really annoy me because they're almost always wrong. "Your pursuer flanked you" -- No he didn't, he saw me killing my own target and happened to be nearby. "Your pursuer saw you use a disguise" -- No he didn't, the chase bar said I was out of his line of sight when I used it. And so on. It gets really irritating, but I can't turn them off.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Those aren't considered tips, that's just the text you see flash by when you get killed. I don't think you can turn that off. The "tips" that you can turn off are the ones that you get during your very first few games... tips that you get while playing (if I recall correctly).

The tips are dumb though, sometimes Im in a haybale waiting for my persurer, he roofs me and then the tip says "Avoid running on rooftops" Wtf?

The tips annoy the smeg out of me... "Your pursuer saw you use a Disguise" - no he didn't, he saw I was USING a Disguise when I killed my target.

Turning off the Tips does get rid of those annoying messages, but then you will not know who killed you - if that's important, I mean.

You do still get told who stunned you & whom you've stunned though.

^ Damn it, I so didn't remember the PSN came from that sig. xD

I was getting chased yesterday and got killed, and the game said that "Hidden pursuers can surprise you".

Ah, see, I didn't know that. I guess I do like to know who got me without having to bring up the player list and check for his or her persona.

"Your pursuer has flanked you" -Yes, because running at me at full speed is considered as much.
"Your pursuer has poisoned you" -My teammate yes, but not me.
"Avoid running on rooftops" -It's Castel Gandolfo, what roof!?

One time I tried to knife my pursuer to get away but the game was lagging so I died. "Try using throwing knives to slow down your pursuer" I mean come onXD

Yeah those things are stupid, sometimes a pursuer is walking towards me so I throw a smoke bomb but it's way too early, and I run towards him to hopefully get a cheap stun and I get killed. Then it says "Your pursuer spotted you when you threw a smoke bomb". No, he spotted me way before that.

It isn't considered a tip though. Just ignore it and tell yourself that you know better than a stupid computer.

lol Teddy... XD

I've had the "Your pursuers spotted you when you dropped a smokebomb" message while dying in said smokebomb. Oh and "Take advantage of your opponent's ability loss" when dying straight after muting. Thanks, lag, you've done it again.

I turned off my Tips yesterday; I must say it was a much more pleasant gaming experience not seeing those aggravating messages - AND not knowing who killed me. I start getting really annoyed when the same player kills me over and over again, so removing that helped me not to rage last night, at least with regards to that.

Pity about the lag. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif

yeah, those "tips" are garbage, and though i have all notifications turned off, i still occasionally get terrible advice and see who killed me and for how much, which i dislike.

and like lethalla said, the most annoying is when you mute someone and subsequently die moments later only for the helpful hints tell you to take advantage of your opponent's ability loss. oh, swell. i wouldn't have thought of that myself. :|

I was casually minding my own business when a guy on a roof shot me...

"Hidden pursuers can surprise you"

WTF!! In no way was he hidden, or any way after that...damn roofers.

I actually find the tips very helpful. For example I played a match on Rome today and muted a pursuer and punched him on the face, then right after got shot from across the map. I wasn't sure what I could have done to avoid it until I saw the tip.

"Take advantage of your opponent's ability loss."

Yes, they can be very useful.

Like once in Monterrigioni when I heard a loud BANG and then saw my persona fall over dead, and my pursuer jerking at his sleeve a few dozen meters away. I wasn't sure what happened until it told me

"Your pursuer poisoned you."

*Perseur shoots me from a blend group while I was running on the roof*

"Your perseur poisond you"

My favorite is when you Mute a pursuer, but they lag through it and drop a smoke bomb on you anyway, and the game says "Take advantage of an opponent's ability loss." Yeah, well, I was going to...

I wonder why my music turns itself off every now and then.

Even though my Tips are still off, last night they decided to show up. I thought "maybe" it was because I was playing Escort & Assassinate... but they were still there when I went back to Noob.0 Wanted.

Fortunately today they're gone.

I like to leave tips on so I can complain about how many undeserved points the person who killed me got.

Every now and then I'll get a game where the oh-so-helpful (read f***ing annoying) Tips pop up after every death, but I've found that if you go into the Options > HUD before respawning, set them to On then back to Off it will usually solve the problem.
