Hi guys. I just bought Pacific Fighters and intend on going into multiplayer and flying, but before I can justify purchasing $250 in flight controls, I want to be able to start up multiplayer.

The game did not download patches when I installed it, I am aware there are patches for the game, but I am unsure of in what order I install them, and when I download them, where I install them that they will work with my game.

I tried putting patch 3.01 in the PF folder but it still says 3.00 when I load the game up.

If anyone can help me, thank you I want to join your community but need the game to work correctly first.

Hi Jim,

Check out Bearcat's guide here:
http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/23110283/m/9121094645

( Stickied 2nd post down on this very forum )

You're probably going to want to get the 1946 edition of this sim - it's an all in one package that covers all theatres and loads more aircraft. A small outlay compared to a $250 joystick.

Of course you can have fun with PF standalone, but will have a lot more with the whole shebang - even if it has got sci-fi jets in it.

Welcome aboard.

Take PF back, and ask for 1946 version.. BC's guide (mentioned above) has all the info.

Welcome... any problems - just ask, we have all the answers http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Welcome mate. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

If you are going for multiplayer then you really need to get 1946, Jim. Everyone online plays 1946 along with the latest patch, as it has the most amount of maps, planes, units etc.

You might find a few players playing PF, I'm not sure. Anyone serious about MP has 1946.

Buy it, you absolutely definitely will not regret it. There are usually about 800-1000 players online each night. You can ALWAYS find a good game with the difficulty settings that you want, and the game isnt going to die anytime soon.

TO play online use Hyperlobby, it lists all the servers, and has a chat program included, and allows coops, servers and so on to be arranged easily. Its a great application as long as you ignore the whining and arguing in the chatbox.

Get yourself IL2 1946, patch it to 4.08m, download hyperlobby, install it and choose the Forgotten Battles room. Any problems ask in here or the chat in Hyperlobby.

You might try the PF room in HL, actually I just checked it and at 10:15pm UK time there are 4 servers, but only one of them has 7 players in it, the rest are empty.

If you can't get your hands on 1946 on short notice, this thread on patching may be of help:
Patch order - entire game series. Make sure you have it right! (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/23110283/m/4721047273/p/1)
(go for the section titled 'If you have Pacific Fighters installed as a 'stand alone' sim, you will need:')

Good Luck!

Hello Jim,
Low Flyer and K Freddie are correct. Take back the Pacific Fighters and get the all in one IL2 1946 DVD. You can find it cheaply here:
http://software.pricegrabber.com/computer-games/m/34763...st=product/sv=title/ (http://software.pricegrabber.com/computer-games/m/34763356/search=il2/st=product/sv=title/)

Definitely read Bearcat's Nugget's Guide as it has much good info. It is at the link Low Flyer provided above. Once you have the IL2 1946 DVD, you will only really need to download one patch, the 4.08m patch which can be found here:
http://www.gamershell.com/download_17669.shtml

Two other guides which you may want to look at include Skycat's Guide found here:
http://www.simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&...9&page=1#Post2163129 (http://www.simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=2163129&page=1#Post2163129)

and the Newbie's Guide to IL2 Online Dogfighting, found here:
http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/23110283/m/2751038856

Hopefully, this will help you get off to a better start.

Good luck,
Jay

In order to patch the game you need to download the correct patch and then run it, not just put it in the IL2 folder.

See other threads for which patches you need for PF standalone - I am not sure, I have 1946.

Only IL2 1946 is worth getting regarding multiplayer as this is the latest version and includes much more airplanes and other goodies.

We should add that IL2:1946 includes everything released in the Il2 series so far, plus all the patches except the last one 4.08m

1946 includes everything you have in PF with everything else released.
