Which of the existing planes do you think handles the most like an upcoming Corsair..? I ask, so I can practice around for the real deal when she arrives http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

People say the Corsair and the Fw190 were similar, so i guess try pratcing on the Fw190 http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

A Stearman

Mmmm...try the FW190. That or the P-47. Those two are the most similar to what we have...although I think the Corsair turns better.

Of course you jest, Chuck, but I'm sure you'll agree with me that it would be absolutely magnificent to have a Stearman to play with here. Not terribly effective in pitched battle, obviously, but loads of fun to just fart around in, or race. Plus, think of all the gorgeous skins that more talented artists than I would come up with.

Well, yeah

But a Stearman WOULD be great to have in PF, as you say. I'm sure the aerobatic teams would have a ball with it, too

You could practice on the world's smallest aircraft carrier. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

FW190 A6

10-12-2004, 07:29 PM
I'd say the P-47. Both are large, heavy aircraft with excellent power, high altitude performance, and roll rate. I believe the FW will end up rolling much faster than the Corsair and the Corsair should be able to turn inside of the FW.

jug flys nothing like a corsair if you go by actual pilots from ww2.

the best closest thing i think would be the fw190A6 in my best estimate. the corsair outperforms most planes it handled like a dream except for takeoffs and landings

10-12-2004, 11:54 PM
I would have thought the A4 would be closer. Why are some of you saying the A6 is a better match?

10-13-2004, 12:08 AM
The Jug is quite a bit like the PF corsair as far as handling goes. Although none of the existing planes are much like it.

Actualy it reminded me the I-185 even the cocpit are alike. should try to train on the i-185

10-13-2004, 12:37 AM
people have said the A6 because its the best A series Fock Wulf 190

corsair had fast roll like a FW-190 & was said to out-turn the P-47s without too much trouble (at higher speeds would be my guess)

heres what Americas hundred Thousand had in it about the USAF planes

VFA-195 Snacky

Some of you folks are in for a shock.lol

10-13-2004, 03:17 AM
i think its the leaked PF Alpha users that are Snacky

10-13-2004, 03:19 AM
on second thoughts im sure that its the leaked PF Alpha users that will be the ones in for a shock http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

would be a cool (what if) matchup FW190 A6 vs Corsair
cant wait to shoot that bird down
oh and Dora is gonna walk all over it ,Be sure http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

10-13-2004, 03:58 AM
I think Dora vs late version Corsair would be interesting but I think it would be 99% down to the pilot. They seem to be very similar planes in some respects.

10-13-2004, 05:20 AM
my money would be on the Corsair , even if it was the 2000 Hp Corsair

IRL a used , crash landed Jabo A5 was nearly a match for the F4U in the american test , but meh , RL dont mean squat online

From much of the above it looks like a number of people reckon the Corsair is the best thing sinced sliced bread. Impressive plane in many ways (very macho looking too) but I doubt would fare well against a great land based fighter like the FW190. The requirements of a carrier based plane are pretty different to an LBA.

Though it will still be one of the first machines I'll want to fly in PF (after Beaufighter...)
