Lotus 7 I believe.

Yes, definitely a Lotus 7. They are still produced under the name Caterham 7.

Those Bimmers make my BMW heart melt! Thanks! Got any more of them?

Just drove a friend's 740iL limo today. It's an ultra luxurious battleship of a car, but still felt like a tank when compared to my E36 328i Coupe.

There are a ton of BMWs throughout these picture threads. All you have to do is look. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

If you want the original pictures of these BMWs (1504 x 1000), send me an email at cawimmer 430 AT yahoo . com (written this way to prevent less spam from reaching me). http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Cawimmer,

I guess the question at this point is whether there were any cars at this show that you didn't photograph!

Super stuff & thanks for posting.

Well, I learned something from your latest photo presentation - never knew about the BMW "Luxus". Can you give any background on this car?

Your BMW Bavaria photo was also interesting. BMW used the "Bavaria" model name to badge their large four-door sedans in the US during the early 70's. I owned a 1973 3.0-liter Bavaria - a fabulous highway car.

Yeah, I've never seen an 02-series car (3-series precursor) wearing Bavaria badge. That's associated with bigger 00-series saloons (5-series precursor) like Blutarski said. Or maybe it's some US-market related thing?

LOL http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

There are quite a few cars which I didn't photograph because of redundancy (same car, different color). http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

The BMW "Luxus" was basically a BMW 700 made in the late 1950s up to the mid 1960s if memory serves me right. I think the LS Luxus might have been made in early 1962 until 1965 so it's a very rare model. Basically it came better equipped. Not too sure about the engine though, might have been more powerful than the standard 700.

My father had a 700 Sport with 40-horsepower in the late 1960s, bought it from his best friend and had it tuned by a good friend who was working for BMW. I don't know how much power the tuned engine made, but my dad said the engine became so unreliable that he feared driving the car. It constantly broke down because the engine couldn't take the "extra power". http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

Edit: Just checked on the German Wikipedia.

http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMW_700

Check the table, you can see that the LS Luxus had 32-horsepower!

The BMW 700 was my Moms first (used)car in 1970 when we were living in Munich for about half a year. It was pale blue with a deep blue roof.

The only earlier car I faintly remember was a chubby Ford 12M where as a child in the late sixties I sat in the middle between my parents. It had a bench in front, not two single seats. No one today would let his child ride that way http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif

Next was a used Opel Kadett A in mouse grey. As a kid I found it so much larger than the earlier car. If you come from a BMW700 any other car is large http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Then sometime in 1972 she got a brand new Toyota Corolla 1200 in orange. At that time people were not used to japanese cars and it created many a conversation. It also took weeks for spare parts to arrive from the homeland.

Ah, childhood memories.

Looks like my family and your family had a few things in common! I mean my dad owned a BMW 700 and right after that owned a Ford 15M which he totaled one day because he drove like a maniac! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
