http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gifI have been reading about this Buttkicker game enchancing system.
It uses the low sound frequences to operate a magnet attached to your chair.
http://www.shakercentre.co.uk/bkgamer.htm
Looks like it's alot more expensive in the UK than the USA,

http://www.thebuttkicker.com/g12_hinted.mov poor film, does'nt seem to show it off very well.
Has anyone tried it,got it, any feedback please. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

I don't have one, but I might get it....I hear that it is http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif....the worst thing that people say, is that it raise's your chair height a few inches...but it looks like it may have changed on that regard<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I do have one. If you can get it on sale and you fly more than a few hours a week it is definitely worth it. At full price I would say it depends on your budget. It is more of an immersion perk. You wont necessarily feel every hit in your chair... if it makes no sound you wont feel it... but you will feel your guns going off... and your throttle action and of course the crashes. If you are in the pit and you look around you the vibration will change according to the sound. The documentation is not so great but it is workable. I got my rebate in @10 weeks.
It isnt as essential a tool as say TIR...... but if you can do it.... it is worth it.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I have one as well I got off ebay for $40. Does add to the immersion, especially if you crank Bass Boost up on your sound card. When I fire up the engines on a P-38 it really rattles the chair but smoothes out once you throttle up and engines settle down.

The "coolest" feeling for me however are flak bursts. You FEEL them and they are so sudden it does startle you and how much you feel them varies by distance.

I think they normally retail for $130 US at full price. Not worth it for that money but if you can score one for $50 or less it's a nice add-on. It's also a trip in some FPS games. Hunkered down in a bunker in COD2 during an arty barrage is a thing to experience...<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Put up with her being 'bent up' I have just seperated from my wife after 24 yrs together, i can play IL-2 every night, i would rather play it 2 nights a week and have some female companionship! being single soon wears off, esp at my age 43! Good post Dux, really made me laugh.

Hmmm. If the soundcard supports additional speakers, you can hotglue a big bass speaker cone to the underside of your chair for a lot less than $50. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Actually, this basic concept, or one very similar to this, has been around for years in car audio circles. At least ten years have gone by since I recall first seeing "bass shakers" listed in a Crutchfield catalogue.

For car audio, the bass shakers were marketed as a cheap alternative to spending money on amps, subwoofers, and boxes in order to get that "oh so cool" car-rattling bass. I think they just bolted down to the car's floor under the front seats, and like this Buttkicker device, operated on the low frequency bass.

I don't recall which company sold the bass shakers, but I would have to believe somebody is still selling them to car audio guys. I bet these would be a cheaper alternative to the purpose-built buttkicker mentioned here. Also, I would think the car audio bass shakers would be easier for pit builders to incorporate into their pits.

For the record, I am not nor have I ever been a "bass head." My involvment in car audio has never extended beyond a head unit driving four speakers.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">
