Well, I am chanting around my pet goat for 12 hrs a day, baying at the full harvest moon for 7 hours a night and, all the while, praying for the Unreal 3 Engine.

Thank goodness we have no neighbors for miles around. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Its a real powerful engine, huge possibilities, but one concern is all the issues we had with RvS, as result of the UR2 ungine. I can't help but wonder if such issue much arise again? Issues that were never able to be fixed across the games entire life span, as well as in the expansion Athena's Sword. (Athena never had a sword by the way http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif )

It will be intresting to see what this means for the PC version. Will it Use the same engine? It possible that it wont, with a seperate development team, its possible that it wont. Only time will tell, and I for one am very intrested to see what pans out over the next few months, and what Rainbox Six 5 accually is. Possibly, not having anything to do with Vegas at all?

Considering that the VEGAS title was not included in the PC side of things (as evidenced by this forum) I am thinking that, while Las Vegas will be a good part of the game, it won't be central to it.

Whatever engine they'll use, I hope it will be scalable, and the game will be playable on things other than the latest&greatest hi-tech hardware too...

well if they do use the UT engine, a good thing is that they already have much experience with it. The SC series is built off of it and RvS, so past mistakes will have been well analyzed and hopefully many more tricks of the trade will be known. RvS and the original SC was their first games on the engine, so there is a lot more experience working with it, if it is the engine they are using.

Even though this is UNCONIRMED, it would be in UBI's best interest to use the new Unreal Engine 3 simply because it means they are giving the proper resources, I.E. time and money, to develop on a cutting-edge engine... Unlike Lockdown which uses a five year old engine.

Licensing an engine like Ureal 3 will cost millions -- But it will be an investment well worth it considering the features the new engine has over a cheaper, older engine.

Also, the other great thing about most engines is they are scalable, so you don't have to have the latest-and-greatest hadware to play at acceptable levels (subjective and within reason of course).

well, if you want to get techincal the Unreal 3 engine is still based off the original Unreal, so it's at least a 5 year old engine too http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif

Unfortunately, in this case it may not make much of a difference. From what I've heard, The Unreal 3 engine was built from the ground up, not altered from the previous versions. While it will likely have many things in common, the base is supposedly different enough that they'd have to learn it all over again.

Regardless, even with the faults of Raven-Shield, I think as a game, it seriously benefitted from using the Unreal Engine with a solid dedicated server package and all the inherent modding tools that came with it.

i hope that for PC devs use Unreal 3. This is one engine that can be compared to 360 version..

Wait, I got confused.

It's a TV Show. Battlestar Galactica...

But it was Apollo's spear that lead them to Athena's tomb....

So, she didn't have a sword... She had a tomb... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif

Really? Interesting. Now is the graphical proportion just done from the ground up, or everything, such as net-code, etc.

I would assume even if they re-did everything they will have a certain Unreal feel to it and would work the same way.

In terms of $$$ i think they will use LD engine.Simple cut cost as they already know the dynamics of it. I think it is a cool engine as well more important is the game play.

Insane how many new games are using the Unreal 3 engine, among them SChttp://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gifouble Agent & Brother in Arms 3 & R6: Vegas from Ubisoft among them...

i loved the "feel" of RvS using the UT2 engine. it definatly felt like a step up from RS's engine (and LD beign a step back from RvS :/ when considering the "feel") i hope they use the UT3 engine.

Maybe the decision for the engine depends heavily on the intention of UBI, if they want to produce a really groundbreaking new big shot with R6-5... or (and I think it might go this direction) if they want to comfort the R6 pc fans after the flop with LD.

But in any way, it's OK with me. I don't want to wait for years for the next pc part of R6. So they shall develop a solid successor to RvS where they can build upon in future releases. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
