Great read.. I read some NACA articles on the a mockup of the F6F tail end for their compressability tests. ..I would like to see severe buffeting effect in the game. I also like the comment about the "no red line" F4F dives and 8.5g pullouts (notice no comments on the immediate blackout effect). The wildcats still beak up in the game @ 500mph TAS.

..... What got my attention was the author's description of looking back at the tail of his Hellcat and seeing nothing but a blur of torsional vibration.

Did you notice the comment about spring-tab ailerons being introduced with the F6F-5 and being retro-fitted to many F6F-3's? This retro-fitting and field upgrade issue makes accurate analysis of historical a/c performance doubly difficult. A lot of it seems never to have made the official histories.

This is facinating reading Blutarski. Any chance all this info could be collected and sent to Oleg for his review? Perhaps we could get these features of the Hellcat modeled in PF?
