Thoughts? Its no x-52 but heck, its less than 20.

If the POTs ar quality and the buttons don't go soft after 1 yaer Ide say its agood buy. But it also has the have programmability for flight sims.
You just cant assign keys to buttons and expect top functionality.

Well from reading around, ive yet to see a negtive view. However i think this is best taken with a pinch of salt, since some companys delete negative reviews. Plus, this has some rudder functionality which i currently lack.

IL2 deserves something better ...

(it is said ARCADE in the description)

Yeah, but not all of us can justify a lot of money on games. 'A lot' is relative. A review also says that its being used in Il2:46 with no problems. I know its not a top notch stick, but thats not what im after.....

I recently bought a thrustmaster t.flight HOTAS which has a detachable throttle and rudder control. It was less than 30 quid from Amazon and my son and I are very happy with it. like you I can't justify spending 200 plus quid on a stick throttle, pedals etc. We find the rudder control works very well. We've only had it about 5 weeks but so far so good.

The speed link seems to have got some great reviews on amazon.
I like it's rudder feature too, that is having a seperate slider for the rudder, as the twisty stick can be fiddly to use.

Otherwise I fully recommend what I'm currently using:t. flight stick x (http://www.thrustmaster.com/product.aspx?ProductID=94) from thrustmaster. Nice and sturdy, accurate and cheap. Stick twist can be disabled by means of a screw if you decide to use pedals at some point, and also compatible with PS3.

Thanks for the link metatron.

I think ill go with it, since it seems to have good reviews and its not too much money if it is pants. At any rate im using a cheap logitech something or other - so i doubt itll be too much of a step down.

I bought an aviator 8 (saetek) and I liked it until it broke after about 40 hours.

Then I took it back and tried the x-52....

There is no way to adjust the stiffness of the stick, and it flops around way to much/easy for me. I Really liked the number of buttons on it...

BUT ALAS it broke after 3 hours....

Of to CH for me

3 hours?! What the fark did you do to it in that time? Mine has handled lots of abuse fairly well for over 3 months now, with only a slight squeakiness to show for it.

I say go for it... It has a rocker rudder, FFB.. I dont know how good but it has something resembling FFB.... thats what.... $30 U.S. give or takler a few ..? Just make sure you give us a review. We need as many optios as possible, and if this stick floats the boat, then by all means, let folks know.

That's just rumble on the black widow, that's a big difference to the varying center force you get in a real FFB stick.

But modern FFB implementations like in the evo force are so bad compared to MSFFB ("a fine joystick, from a more civilized time") that the difference between that and just rumble would not be very big...
