Do anyone have the information of the renown of different ships in GWX 2.0? I only have the one for GWX 1.X, but since many new ships added to GWX2.0, that one doesn't fir anymore.

Not sure where you'd find the renown details. It's not in the GWX 2 manual.

King George V gives you 1500 renowns http://i189.photobucket.com/albums/z15/subject_rod/smilies/pleased2.gif

Not that I have sunk one (yet) in this career http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif but found it in data\Sea\NBB_KGeorgV.cfg

Which yields more Renown. I had a chance to sink either a Light Cruiser or a Troopsip. I chose the Cruiser... Did I make the right choice renown wise?

So... you're saying the troopship got away? http://i189.photobucket.com/albums/z15/subject_rod/smilies/nudelholz.gif

But if I should find the renowns
- go to data\Sea and open "Englishnames.cfg"
- search for "Troop" and find PPL=Large Troop Ship
then search for folder with PPL in it and find NPPL_ where NPPL_.cfg says 870 renowns...

Your light cruiser must have shown a class name in rec. manual?

Urrgh my apologies Admiral! (he says wiping sweat from brow as Gestapo agents enter the room) But I was down to my last two stern torps. I was just outside of Port of Dover, there were no harbor patrols around so I had a chance to shoot, reload and shoot again.

I had a narrow slit in the harbor walls I could hit either the moored troopship or the moored Manchester Class (I think) Light Cruiser... I figured I'd be sure to kill the cruiser but might only wound the Troop ship (11,000 tons vs. 22,000) tons so I took the sure kill...

Hence my question about which provides more renown... Whew...

I thought the recognition book gives you the renown value per ship http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif

@ Goose
Sorry. No, the recognition manual doesn't display the renown, only the tonnage.

Someone at subsim radioroom talk about sinking floating dock, which is over 20K ton. But I'm not sure about the renown for that, I thought I had check that ones, and the renown for a floating dock is around... ZERO! So, get the tonnage, but without rewards.

Also, I always have Worf101's problem: too few precious trops, too many targets --&gt; which to kill?! That's why I want the updated renown list for GWX 2. Do the development team have this?

Hiya Worf. I see you're commanding subs too nowadays http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

From the old SH3 community manual:

Renown Basics

Renown is the measure of the success of your patrols in Career mode.

You earn renown by:

Reaching your patrol zone
Patrolling for 24 hours
Sinking enemy ships
Shooting down enemy planes
Returning to your base at patrol end, instead of using the ESCAPE key to "return to port" in mid-patrol. When you're within 30 kilometers of your base and hit the ESCAPE key, you will then be offered the option to "Dock at: base". You do not have to travel the last mile and dock in the U-boat pen.

You lose renown by:

Sinking friendly ships. Sinking a friendly ship will penalize your renown by a factor of ten times such a ship's renown value. Keep it up and SH3 will toss you out of the Kriegsmarine.

Sinking neutral ships. Neutral ships will cost you the same renown amount that you would earn for sinking the equivalent enemy ship. Armed neutral ships will also begin firing on you. As with sinking friendly ships, sinking neutrals can lead to the end of your career in the Kriegsmarine.

You do not lose renown for skipping your patrol grid square. It is just a place to earn points if you visit it. It is not required of you to go there or stay there.

You will not see the renown you've earned in your current patrol until you've returned to base.

Renown can be used to upgrade to a new type of U-boat, purchase upgraded conning towers, radios, or guns, or to enlist more experienced sailors and officers.

The renown value for each ship can be found by looking at the .cfg file for the ship in the SilentHunterIII/data/Sea/shipname/ directory.

Renown and Realism

The renown you receive for sinking enemy ships is also affected by your Realism %. You will earn more renown for playing at a higher Realism %.

The formula for calculating renown, per ship, is:

base ship renown value (see below) * ( (0.75 * realism %) + 0.25 ).

Therefore, At 100% realism, you will receive full renown credit for every ship that you sink and at 0% realism, you will receive 25% of the renown credit for every ship.

Good informative post. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

However, in GWX 2.1......

<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-title">quote:</div><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-content">You earn renown by:

Renown awarded for the above is removed. You're all good Kaleuns who follow orders regardless of the reward, aren't you? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/784.gif

And....

<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-title">quote:</div><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-content">Returning to your base at patrol end, instead of using the ESCAPE key to "return to port" in mid-patrol. This renown award has NEVER worked since SH3 1.0 and is unfixable. So you get no renown for manually returning to port.

The time is coming to earn your renown by sinking ships.

Sink em all.

Yah, mein Squaddies "were NOT amused" when I told em I have a mistriss and her name is U-52. Thanks for the renown chart. I guess I did the right thing renown wise hitting the cruiser and not the troopship. But the troopship had double the tonnage.

Did they change this to 300 points per "class"? I have finished the academy with at least 1/2 dozen characters, and I get 1500 renown like clockwork. If not, then what score is above "excellent", and how do I get it? I may not be Prien reincarnated, but I am good enough to kick arse in the academy tests.

P.S. Also, do the medals made available correlate directly to renown? or can you get a few more by, for instance, returning to port manually?
