I have to admit that testing crazy stuff on this mission was great fun. Good job P-38_Lightning.

<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-title">quote:</div><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-content">Hey amnio what program did you use that capture that gif? </div></BLOCKQUOTE>I used fraps to capture at 15fps while the game was running half speed (to prevent stutter). I then threw the resulting .avi into Virtualdub (http://www.virtualdub.org/), doubled the playbackspeed, reduced the clip to 8fps and cropped it heavily to remove uneeded scenery. Last I used Ulead Gif Animator to make it into an animated .gif which was tweaked a bit to make sure it went under the 1MB cap at imageshack. In theory I could've done it all (except capture) in gif animator, but I'm not all that familiar with the program.

A couple years back in original IL-2 we raced a weird course that ran through the mountain valleys and had some sort of solid objects elevated about 80-100 feet over the ravine so that we all had to navigate the canyons within a few feet from the valley floor and walls while racing. . . it looks like I should find that map and send it on over that that budgie.

I had a shot, but I think its too tall...

not too sure, i also thought the 262 was too wide, but obviously it just fits.

also considered was the go229 and p38.

great craic this mission

If you put in the missions folder, you can open it in full mission builder and use any flyable plane you like - just remember to save as a new title for every plane. Once you've done that, you can copy the mission to whatever file in your single missions. For an added challenge, make your plane 'blue' - the other planes in the air will attempt to shoot you down (found this out the hard way!}

And many thanks are due to P-38 Lightning for the original work. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Hope it helps.

@ Lowflyer:

What speed did u take the 163 through at? since your rocket looks engaged i can only imagine it must have been accelerating, unless u had it i s'pose at 30%. anyhoo well done, i find the 163 quite twitchy, specially in the roll.

@ Amnio: Have u tried a go229? (stuck in work so cannae do it myself!)

Amnio
09-28-2005, 09:22 AM
Dazza9806482: I gave the Go-229 a shot, but in horizontal flight it's half a wing too large to fit under the bridge. It also seems too large to sideslip through. You could always give the TB-3-method a go though.

Also tried the Ta-152, a plane which I believe to be impossible to fit while flying level, but which did fit while sideslipping. To nobodys surprise the joyride ended at the 3rd bridge, in part because of a missing wing, but also because I'm really bad at sideslipping. This in turn explains the wing I left in bridge 2... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Bravo, Amnio!!! Great flying! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Dazza - I took the first single bridge (from an air start) at 370 kmh, 10% throttle, took the turn left at 300kmh throttled up to 75% then lined up and went for the big one at full throttle - leaving the multi-bridges at 0 feet 460 kmh. Didn't pay much attention to all this at the time, too busy keeping off the deck and looking straight ahead.....figured the shorter the time spent under the bridges, the better! - got the stats from switching 'messages on' in playback. Still finding it impossible in a biplane http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif - would have thought it would be the other way around.

Let's see some more - come on guys & gals, have go and let us see what you can do.... it's fun!

I can't get this mission to work, I have a .mis file and a .properties file, I put the files in a folder in my net missions for online and started a server but it didn't show home base or anything, what do I do?

;_; </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

If you put in the missions folder, you can open it in full mission builder and use any flyable plane you like - just remember to save as a new title for every plane. Once you've done that, you can copy the mission to whatever file in your single missions. For an added challenge, make your plane 'blue' - the other planes in the air will attempt to shoot you down (found this out the hard way!}

And many thanks are due to P-38 Lightning for the original work. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Hope it helps. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

(In full mission builder)
Left click on the plane symbol on the map, go to select object, pick any plane you fancy and save mission as a new title with .mis added to title e.g. Spitbridges.mis
Then select play - should take you to normal arming screen.

Good luck!

I have an excellent mission from a while ago, think it was by a guy called Lez...

anyhoo its excellent and very tough, its basically a yak 9 flying through a mountainous course using chimney stacks to mark out an air racing course.

in work (again) but i will post it later as txt file....

Would love to give that mission you spoke of a go, Dazza.

Did you know that the bridge with planes parked underneath sports big enough a margin to sandwich a Bf-109 inbetween the parked planes and the bridge?

I can't seem to get your link to work Dazza. First of all, the forum doesn't understand it since it contains spaces (change to %20 instead), which is why the url-tag didn't work. Secondly when I go to http://www.ihud.com/file.php?file=1128015623/Lez%27s%20Test%20Circuit.mis I do get the option to download, but only get the main page after clicking the link. This I think is due to the \ automatically beeing changed to a / in many browsers... Did manage to get it in the end though.

Might I add that this version is *cough* slightly harder than the 675 and 1/8th object version you posted first... Gave it a shot twice. First I tried to keep the speed up, an attempt that ended in the lake after clipping a wing in that tight turn. The second attempt was with landingflaps extended while cornering for the crazy speed of almost 200km/h. Didn't win any speedawards, but sure did get the job done...for a while anyways. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif (Lost the tail in the really tight section west of the startlocation.)

Nice touch with that shortcut at the concrete runway, made that 90degree turn alot easier.

<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-title">quote:</div><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-content">Does it count if you walk away from the crash? </div></BLOCKQUOTE>People seemed to like the TB3 smashing through the bridge, an event which cost the life of two gunners. So if you post a similar event and you're able to walk away from it alive, I'm sure it'll be popular. Spectacular crashes are always popular though.

Flown with full rudder, landingflaps, 270km/h speed and 3m height above ground. Tip: For practice do testruns in wonderwomanview and aim with the direction of flight indicator instead of the gunsight/middle of screen.

Anyone able to fly this AC through the larger stack of bridges? (with no damage)

Really creative work you got going there dogstar4000. What's next? Sending a plane equipped with an ejectionseat underneath a bridge while the pilot ejects and flies above it? Add a target on the other side and you got pilotdart... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Downloaded it
Could not read it(French)
Tried it anyway
Crashed and died
Prop strike, crash landed
Tried again and died again
Flames, debri, explosions
Body parts, plane parts all over
Screeming death, destruction, chaos
Seven tries, eight tries
I died and died
And then... I tried again
Eleventh time, I made it
Did a hammer head stall
Turned around and made it again
Landed and taxied
Up to that bridge
And I shot that F--kin thing.
Have screenies.
****ed that was a pain in the ***.
But, fun good stuff thanks. &lt;S&gt;
