View Full Version : X-45 question...

I know this has been discussed before, I did a search and came up with nothing, so here goes...

Managed to pick up a Saitek x-45 for 9, I got it mainly for the throttle which leads on to my question, will the x45 throttle work with my current stick? Can i plug the hotas into the gameport and use my current stick on USB? Anyone tried this before?

Thanks in advance! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Yes mate it will work fine. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

re-read your post...you have to plug the entire X45 into a spare usb port you can then use your own stick as well as the X45 throttle and either stick the Saitek stick under the desk or use it as a button bay http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Hey Psycho, I too recently picked up an x45. I liked my EVO stick though because of the twist rudder. I did just as suggested and plugged in the whole shebang as a second controller. The EVO stick does the pointing duty while the X45 throttle controls the engine. I just set the normal x45 stick aside but also as posted you can assign its buttons too if you wish. All the best, LongHorn

I need to do that.

My aiming is horrible (reletively). The stick seems to not want to do minute detail moving. But then again I dont want to lose my buttons and I really like the pinky switch function.

What to do hmm..

I must say, I find it more intuitive with the hotas, all my buttons are now set to that and my original stick (x45 behind my pc doing nothing). No need to reach for the keyboard apart unless I want to turn lights on!!! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

My better half thinks I'm really sad, little does she know that I'm eyeing a pair of simped pedals and all that work i've been doing in the shed is in fact a cockpit tub rather than whatever (no idea now) she asked me to make http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif .

Thanks again for the help in setting up!

You may benefit from a read of the "Joysticks..." article linked under my signature picture, particularly the section near the bottom about adding a second controller.
