I have noticed long ago that two cannons in the left wing are unsynchronized while those pair in the right wing are synced. Any particular reason for that?

I just looks so much cooler http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif
All the requests to desync the guns of aircraft...and that is what we got. Many more aircraft got this overhaul as well. Looks great, eh? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Yep, I like them being unsynchronized... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif
MG equipped aircraft probably benefit most from this, it was basically requested mostly because of them.

After we got the "desynced" patch, I tested EVERY aircraft ingame and most, but not all got this overhaul. I did not, of course, affect any cowling mounted guns.

F4U-1c and Hurricane MkIIc have all cannons desynchronised:

While Tempest, J2M3, J2M5, N1K2-Ja have only left pair desynced:

Thanks for the info guys.
I guess it's a game issue then http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif .

These and the YP-80 all have desync problems. Apparently the belting is random now so the tracers come out unevenly but they must have forgotten a few planes. Would be nice if they would fix that for 4.09...leave no stone unturned http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

About the yp80, i think it is fixed in 4.09b http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif

As to the tempest, presumably we have the series 2, with the mk V hispano cannons, since you can't see them petruding the wing, as opposed to the longer barreled mk II's we have in all the other planes. Someone reported we don't have the correct rate of fire for these mk V cannons.

Well, the belting stayed the same, it's rate of fire that's been changed a little. This can be seen when one cannon runs out of ammo before the other(s) do.

Probably one line fixes too. Just an oversight I imagine.

The Tempest we have is also a bit off in that it has rockets as an option. The Tempest V was rated for rockets, but never carried them. But then we don't have a Typhoon.

Tempest with forced rockets/bombs is a good stand in for a late Typhoon on Ukded servers.

Bombs weren't uncommon on Tempest Vs in real life (last RAF engagement of WW2 was Tempest Vs with 2x1000lbs, although the circumstances were somewhat tragic).

No, a squadron of Tempests bombed ships off the coast Northern Germany, which intelligence suggested were full of departing senior Nazis. It turned out that they were ships which held concentration camp overflow. The loss of life was huge as the Tempests were, sadly, very successful in sinking them.

Here is a link to the story...but this story says they were Typhoons:

Hmm, I was pretty sure they were Tempests of the 2nd TAF. Maybe I am wrong. My mistake and apologies.

Still tragic.

Was also rated for zero length rails instead of the huge rocket rails we have...so I think its sort of a hybrid concession to give us a Typhoon stand-in.

on a side note - I'm a big fan of Tempests and decided to check out some gun camera footage on youtube of Tempests...the thing I noticed (I'm assuming these were tempests) was that the firing sound like MGs (ie. high ROF) even though the IL2 Tempest (and in theory, any normal tempest) would have a lower ROF.

Am I missing something?

Most probably the sound is dubbed on.

Gun cameras didnt have sound.

That's why they are called gun cameras and not gun recorders http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

The belting is not random. The rate of fire is just a little different on each gun. Hold down the trigger and you will see that all tracers come out at the same time at first and as you keep firing the tracers start to come out at different times. Hold down the fire button even longer and eventually the tracers will come out at the same time again. When I did my testing, I did it with unlimited ammo, just to see what would happen.
It is true that some AC got all guns desynced while others got only the left guns desynced, while the right guns we still synchronized. Some AC didn't get any guns desynced. Either way, for the ones that got this "upgrade", it looks much better and more believable.

At first they fire same looking tracers but then they get desynced because, of what I believe, different RoF.

Could have sworn Oleg said the starting order was randomized and thats how they did it. Maybe I misinterpreted the comment.

Oh its definitely a good thing when they desynced the tracers no matter what the technique was in doing it. Everything looks so much more cinematic now...far less "mechanical" and yet its such a "simple" thing. Its just a couple have quirks.
