I have always been a committed Ati follower and even own their stock. Not all of it; just a little piece!

Maybe, but this particular driver set SUCKS.(The 4.3's).
Hunter reported a loss of (ready?) 15 fps in Perfect; I corroborated this.
Stay with 4.1s or 4.2s for now friends-

I've owned ATI stock since Voodoo was on top of the heap. The funny thing is that its share price has remained fairly constant when averaged over the long term. This can't be said for Nvida. When they were on top, their price screamed way up. Meanwhile ATI with way more sales, barely bounced during the boom.

Now that ATI is top dog, they still have yet to take off.

Sounds like good advice Chris. I think I'll go and play a little bridge on the Internet.

Damn thats bad news - ATI Drivers of Late have gone back tot he Bad old days.

If I lost 15FPS in Perfect Settings - I would prob have a Still Shot of FB - a CPU Intensive Desktop Image I guess. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/52.gif

That's what I keep hoping Hawaii50. Hope it happens soon. Maybe the R420 will do it.

Don't even tink about it!
The 4.3 drivers SUCK!

I got a drop in 1200x1600 perfect mode
from 66fps to 32fps on the same screen
on an ATI 9800XT.

I re installed the 4.2 drivers, all is now well!

Wow, such negative reactions. Strange...I actually saw a 10 fps increase.

IMO 4.1's are the best since the 3.7's. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Jeez, I just downloaded 4.2 about a week ago.http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif I'm not going for 4.3 until I hear more on how it performs.

Staying with 4.1 for now. Still...for every good driver set there are going to be bad ones. A monthly update is a great way to combat some long term issues slowly and carefully...sometimes it means things are half baked and sometimes they are just right.

It gives us the choices...

Lower Perf. on perfect.

Higher on excellent.

Also, IQ seems to be much improved with these drivers, IMO.

FB dropped from avg 49 to 30fps in the Black Death Track with Perfect settings. The weird thing is that when I reinstalled the 3.7's my average fps went up to over 50. Who new, lol.

I have the 4.3 now, but this is my 1st ati card(9600xt). So i wouldn't be able to compare.....BUT, since putting in this driver and comparing it top my old card (geforce 5600fx) the fps suck. The 5600fx better fps, i will try the 4.2 cat and see what haps. But i know that ati is better, thats what gets me ticked off, i have tweaked and tweaked(forum advice and tech sites) still not gettin the performance i expect from ati.

ATI specs on my sys
aa and af = app controlled
fast write = on
vpu recover = on
1024x768x32
pipes on 8x
hardware accel = full
sound excel = off

fps in pit on high 12-17
fps in external on high 18-22
fps inpit on med 19-24
fps external on med 20-24
low sets from 24-28 in pit and ext.

5600fx fps are were better at lows sets in both pit and ext. Med sets were better and high was too choppy, as it is now.

The 9600xt should be way better than 5600fx, but gettin it to that point is gettin to be very frustrating.

You should know that ATI will not take off.
