Hi!

I've been looking for an He-111 bombing guide. People keep refering to "Stewart's He-111 Guide" but the homepage seems to be down.

The trainingvideo in the game isn't that good in my opinion.
Is there a guide out there that actually use the "bombsight automation". I found one guide but in that one they bombed without the bombsight automation.

Bombsight automation is just handing control to the bombsight when you've set everything.

You need to set your airspeed (True Air Speed, not indicated - you can get it by using a prayer wheel, your altitude and indicated airspeed, or just use Ctrl+F1 - it's always greater than IAS) and your altitude. If there's a crosswind you can also set the slip angle too.

Once the airspeed and altitude are set correctly, use the bombsight elevation to put the crosshair on the target (the crosshair disappears if you bank too much, so don't) and then engage the bombsight automation. You'll see the crosshair moving down and, hopefully, staying on top of the target as your aircraft approaches it. If it keeps sliding off, your airspeed, altitude or both have been entered incorrectly in the sight.

When the bombsight reckons the bombs should be dropped to hit the point under the crosshair, the bombs get dropped automatically. Assuming your altitude and airspeed were right, you should hit the target dead on.

S! Lou,

Default - CTL D & ALT D give you distance control over the sight.

Yeah. You have to set keys to elevate bombsite and ...uh.. deelevate bombsite.

After you do all this, your only problem will be finding the target when it isn't being drawn by the game at the range you will begin your bombrun at.

Its also futrating that only the pilot can be bomber. It would be great if i could fly the plane (and keep it level) and have a friend do the bombsight.

A typical bombrun for me.

First, I try to line up with the target. After that I use the stabilizer and then I go to the bomberposition. I enter the data for hight and TAS. I increase the bombsightdistance to find the target. I put the cross over the target. After that I start the bombsight automation and wait.
This is where the problems begin. I usually start drifting because of the torque or wind?. How can I get the airplane to fly straight?

What keys are available to compensate for this? Turning of the stabilizer, going back to pilot and use rudder to line up again usually drives me of course even more.

i asked a question about this a few weeks ago - apparently someone posted a good post on how it works and how to use it - i can't remember who but i do know michapma pointed me towards it (gave me the link) i'll post it if i still have it - otherwise i suggest perhaps you track michapma down (sorry michapma, but you are a mine of information !!/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif )

Finally got it right!
Didn't know that you could use the ruddertrim while in stabilizermode.

Thanks all

"Level stabilization" is the key, my method for bombing while playing online is this:

1-take off far away and climb to at least 5000 m, get away from everybody.
2-from the map set a course for your target straight on.
3-hit "level stabilization" key and now you have all the time in the world to prepare, plane stays perfectly on target and straight and level, much to the hatred of real bomber pilots.
4-set all required inputs, TAS, altitude, these items are on guages right where the bombadier sits, I don't use the speed bar, more realistic, just go from bombsite back and forth to the front of the plane.
5-using the bomsite elevation key scan up to 85 degrees and scan the horizon to look for target, slowly following target with crosshairs.
6-use "bombsite automation" key and it does the rest, very accurate when done right.

Before I discovered the "level stabilization" key I would always be fighting to keep the aircraft on course and level, now it's too easy.

Try this one, when playing online you cannot respawn, you have only one chance to play, you must go bomb something on thier side be it a town or airbase and then return and land at your base, taxi to the hangers and shut down. Only one chance, if you are shot down it's too badd, you then have to switch to another server and try again. It's funny when you play this way with only one chance, you become very cautious and methodical about your planning your flight route and take no chances.
