This sounds like the SCORPION that I mentioned in another thread, but the wind test model shown in this pdf file looks like a different munition.

http://www.dtic.mil/ndia/smallarms/Dindl-Sado.pdf

So forget about the airbursting grenades used by the XM-29, this is much better.

If you haven't checked out the pdf doc, it's basically explaining that the LFL munition would be aimed at an enemy infantryman(men) and even if they were to move, due to its seeker built in the munition, it would track him(them) and steer the munition before airbursting above him!

is it laser targeted? I am having trouble opening the PDF, I had heard of something like this before but it was laser targeted.

It's infra-red guided. To look at the document, it's best to not left click, but right click on the link and choose "save target as" and save it to your Military Technology Documents folder. What's that PrinceCaspian, you don't have one??!!

I don't have a Military Technology Documents folder (I don't have enough info to need to start one, but this is the start of mine) but I do have a folder on my favorites like that, If you have any other stuff like this I would like to see it, I am mainly interested in WWII, so most of my knowledge of military tech is about 60 years old, so I have been trying to update my knowledge a bit but I don't know where to look.

I've got tons of stuff, PDF docs I could send you, but how would I get your email, I don't think this forum has PM's or does it?

ww2, is a bit old for me, I've always been like Luke Skywalker with my mind always on the horizon to the future never to the present so I've always liked future tech more.

It does have PMs, I sent you my e-mail, go onto your profile and select private messages.
You can tell me about the future and I can tell you about the past.

Sneaky like the Light Fighter Lethality munition. The poor soldier who thinks he's got good reflexes and battle drills goes to cover, then even low crawls to a new spot only to have this "tracking dog" hunt him DOWN!! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/metal.gif

I might add that this weapon would be terrible for us gamer, with all those mems, foundry would no longer make our beloved consle chips http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif Huh, can you explain what you mean by mems and foundry and what does that all have to do with console chips?

From what i understood those special projectile use MEMS actuator for steering. MEMS are built using the same (for example CMOS) process than the chips used in our console.

So foundries (those who make those chips) would just focus on this enormous new smart bullet market, leaving our console naked http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

(of course this is just fantasy, MEMS foundry are already specialised http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif)

Bump, for the Endwar devs, please use this for the JSF.

This is US tech only http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif, thanks.

Do you really want to have the standard infantryman to start having to carry flares.

Are you saying as a potential countermeasure? If so, that's ok, cause in the real world, that load would be borne by those the US Army goes up against. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

I'm thinking friendly fire, which you have to admit simply because of the numbers of troops America deploys there's more incidents then anyone else involving them.
