Did a search, didn't find what I was looking for. Sorry if covered previously. I'm in the XXI w/snorkel, I hit the semi-colon key and make sure the snorkel is raised. When I kick up the TC the boat has wild swings in running depth. It was swinging from 5m to 20m's and everywhere in between. Can't think for the life of me what is causing it or what to do to stop it. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif The boat will often half-surface and then the planes have a field day with me http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif . Any suggestions?

Using any Uboat with the snorkel, (weather you are submerged properly or not) will make you a painted target for planes, sunderlands will spot your snorkel in calm seas or detect it with radar from miles away.
In a nutshell you will get bombed to hell if you use the snokel by day (even without the problems you discribe), better to use it at night. During the day use your electrics, or run surfaced - at least you get a warning of aircraft spotted and have a chance to shoot them down or take her down to 50m.

The same thing happens to me too.
It doesn't matter whether you are using the snorkel or not. It has to do with the weather and the speed you are traveling at during periscope and snorkel depth. If it is calm seas then you can travel at flank speed at snorkel and periscope depth and it will be fine but when it is bad weather you have to reduce your speed or go deeper to prevent the boat from surfacing.
