So, are you all pondering what I'm pondering?

Is Rob King and Paul Romero working on the soundtrack?

One of the strongest assets of the series has always been its soundtrack, and that is thanks to both these guys. I'll be seriously disappointed if they've been brushed off for some random orchestra-for-hire.

According to the last bit of rumours, they may not be picked as composers or at least Paul Romero. This is very far from confirmed though. What we know is that Paul Romero was about to negotiate some terms with Ubisoft regarding the next Heroes installment and maybe they're already done. Nothing else can be said at this point.

And Heroes 2. The Fields Theme is THE music that turned me into a gamer. In case you forgot, most of the technical problems regarding Heroes 2 was due to the fact its opera tracks were TOO COMPLEX for the computers of the time to keep up with.

And Heroes 1 too. All of them have great soundtrack. As well as the later Might and Magic games.

Who ever produced and made the H3 music, he should be hired again and make something at same quality. Nothing beats H3 music and town themes.

H2 Operas (and all H2 music in general) and H3 music were just perfect, as well as the terrain themes of HoMM IV :P If they can do music as nice as those, we will get the perfect background for our favourite game http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I just hope that they pick the perfect duo from HoMM, Paul and his friend Rob, and make the excellent music for this game http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Touching back this subject:

Now that I thought about it, the Heroes VI trailer sports the duo's Haven Theme (although remixed).

If they end up out of the game can they really keep their theme?

The theme in question should be Ubisoft's property, so I can't see why not. Although I can't find great similarities between the two.

Maybe not the Haven theme...

But it is a theme from Heroes V. I recognize it.

It just feels weird, like if they booted Jeremy Soule from Oblivion and still used his remixed Morrowind theme.

A strong music track is essential indeed! But I do hope that we get more individual battle musics this time rather than remixes of faction themes. That honesty didn't set to well with mefor some reason.

I do hope they're rehired; it wouldn't be a Heroes of Might and Magic game without Paul Romero & Rob King.

HoMM III's themes were some of my favorite music of all time, and it remains the best game soundtrack I have ever heard. Their work has never been anything short of stellar; it would be a shame for them not to work on Heroes VI.

I have faith the default music in Heroes VI will be just great because of the franchises proven track record.

However, I remember in Heroes III, the best feature of all was the ability to substitute the default music for any scene with your own MP3! I'm not asking for a full fledge UI on swapping music, just asking for for the same music swapping as Heroes III had! It was sweet fun looking for other tunes to match with a theme or game scene!

Heroes VI needs Paul Romero and Rob King. Without it Heroes VI will seem incomplete.

If they're hired I'm sure they would do a flawless job as always but I'm just hoping that the music is given the attention it deserves.

Their music has been the backbone of the games and it would be a true disappointment if they didn't have anything to do with it.

I can't reveal anything yet, but for me...this is no longer a concern.

Does that work for a vague response? :O)

Either that or they got Jeremy Soule? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

That could work for me, I guess. But if it is in fact Paul Romero it is preferable.

If it's Paul Romero than that's fantastic.

Jeremy Soule will do a great job I'm sure, but I prefer Romero simply because he's done all the ones before.

Music is the backbone of the HOMAM games, so I hope they do a great job.

I'm starting to get worried. It's about 3 months until it apparently will come out and they haven't even told us who will do the music.

You'd think they would give the person (Hoping it's Paul and Rob) at least a year to make the music.

Paul and Rob and great but they'll need to rush things to make it for 3 months.

I wouldn't assume that just because they haven't told us doesn't mean they don't have a composer yet. It's likely that they've had someone selected for a while now and that person has simply been working in secret.

I think it would be both awesome and annoying it Paul and Rob had been doing it but then revealed it when the game came out.

I've mentioned this before, but, for a few weeks I've been making a series of videos on YouTube where I discuss my thoughts on Heroes VI with the information that is systematically sent out. On this part I talk about the music, what I want, what I don't want.

It got a comment response from Paul Romero himself.

Heroes 2 music is some of the best of all time. Incredible feel! And don't forget the sound effects! I giggle inside every time i pick up some crystals or whatever in H2! Some more of that, please! =D

And I myself don't adore the music setup for H5. Yes, it creates some feel for the race you are playing, but it also gets tiresome and monotone, I think. The melodies are not as distinguished as in 2 and 3.
