I've been flying Il2 some time before the aces exp was released.

Just yesterday, I am flying the bumra campaign and I'm looking over my right shoulder at my wingman. We just happen to climb over 3000 meters of alt. and a freakin o2 mask pops on to his face. How cool is that? I dont know when that started but I just noticed it yesterday.

just something I thought was neat.

I was playing offline today and saw my wingman bouncing on a BF-109 with his Spitfire that I was chasing after I had told him to "Target Freely". I then told him to cover me and he says "Roger..." but doesn't break off his attack. Really weird. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

Caw, I think that's pretty much par for the course with this game's AI.

ShaK, that's pretty cool, I hadn't noticed it but I'll check it out http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

AI to English dictionary:

'clear my tail' == shoot any enemy aircraft within .5km from me, especially if I'm on their six.

'cover me' == tell me when a bandit blows my wing off so I'll know when to bail out

'rejoin' == stay in formation no matter what, let the bandits get you, so that they'll have an easier time getting me.

'attack trucks' == jettison bombs; make sure you don't hit any enemy ground targets, that would not be nice.

'attack fighters' == fly away so that I'll never see you again.

oxigen masks were in the game either since the begining or they came with the Forgotten battles. I'm not sure anymore. It's been a long time.

'(any command)' == please piss me off.

Shooting an enemy down that he is already on is somehow not covering you?

I hate it when people hijack a positive thread so they can whine on it. Especially when most of those whines are actually wrong!

C'mon, we wouldn't be here if we didn't love FB... 20 minutes ago I was pointing out to a flatmate that I've never seen a game that was this efficiently coded.

Latest cool thing I've noticed:

Skins show wear on teh left wing, where pilots climb into the pit.

One really cool detail:

Kill some groundtargets (guns or bombs or whatever) and wait until they create a large smoke column, dive down to groundlevel and fly through this smoke, it will get cut by your aircraft in two and blown into the direction you were heading.

You will also see the oxygen blinker start operating when the mask goes on.

I hadn't noticed the working oxygen blinker, I'll have to check. When I started messing with the '46 jets, I did notice that when starting them, there's the appropriate sound of the two-stroke piston starter motor before the turbine whine starts up.

It is all these little things and countless others that have kept us all here - and despite the whines - kept us happy. Thanks Oleg http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/inlove.gif

Actually, to be fair, the AI are pretty good if you know how to babysit them. It's just they don't always do what you expect them to do when you give them an order.

If anyone hasn't seen the pencil in the TB3 yet, go fly it and have a look. You've got to switch to the bobardier's position (with the maps), and whatch while the aircraft manouvers.

The pencil's roll rate is overmodelled.
