RJ, iv'e safely installed the GW mod you sent me, works a treat, but now it looks like it's already out-dated http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif
I suppose things happen like that, but I need to thank you. I just need to stop killing off Kaluens and get some longevity from a career

Can somebody tell me a bit more ON THIS SITE about modifications of SH III please? Can't get to that site and don't want to lose my SH III for a minor modification.

Is version 1.1a the new version or current? Here's a link for it.

I just installed the mod and started a new career at full realism out of Kiel and I was just stunned by the visual difference...WOW! It took me a while to get all the parts of the download but they are worth the wait. Hats off to the GW development team! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif I'm going to go play it again right now http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/typing.gif

How much different is GW to IUB, from an eye candy point of view?

I don't think I've seen anyone point out the differences yet.

As I've mentioned before, I'm using IUB and have yet to try GW. I'm a little put off by the installation problems other folks have had. Also, will my career still work if I disable IUB and enable GW in JSGME? (with the game saved in port and SH3 Commander rolled back, of course)

VG, I'm almost a complete dodo when it comes to modding etc, took me a while, but jgsme will make the gw install easy enough, you just have to follow instructions

being good little kaluens you vil read za manual of instruction!...ja..i guess i'm lucky..once i figured out the sh3 file structure..mods are not a problem for me..it's just hard to try to explain to someone else..i'm slowly getting a informal guide ready for installing add on ships vg i guess the way to explain the gw files is to look at them on desk top and compare to what your running now..once you get gw in and running you you can tinker even farther ...i rarely get any ctd's ..and the one's i do are 99% operator induced error.. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/compsmash.gif

Jager (Molders) explained a great way to keep the original installation of SH3 and have the modded version. All you do is copy the original, unmodded, folder of SH3 and change the name a little. IE: programfiles/ubisoft/silenthunter3_original

Then download the GW mod and it will install to the unchanged folder (the old one) and that will be your modded game. Then just make 2 shortcuts on desktop instead of 1. He say's it works, its sure worth a try, I'll be doing it later today. Let you know what happens.

EDIT: Roll back SH3 Commander files before coping the folder and renaming, makes it a lot easier http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Just to help those who aren't sure how to get a GW copy of SH3 and keep a MP ready copy. I renamed my original Silent Hunter III folder to "SilentHunterIII original" and copied the whole folder again. After that was done, I renamed the folder to "SilentHunterIII", this copy will be used with Grey Wolves and has to work with SH3 Commander. I went into the "SilentHunterIII" and disabled the Beery's flotilla mod via JSGME and deleted the JSGME files and mod folder. I then replaced all files that I had changed (backgrounds, sounds, uniform enhancements...etc). I also deleted all my screenshots from this copy of SH3 since they are all in my original copy. By now I had a clean copy of SH3. I then installed the Grey Wolves mod and created a new shortcut on my desktop for Grey Wolves and am using it for single player careers while I modified the original SH3 shortcut on my desktop to match up with the "SilentHunterIII original" folder. I ran both copies of the game to make sure they worked (and even tested the original copy online with no problems). At the end, I started a new career via SH3 Commander in my Type II and I am so far enjoying the amazing mod provided by the creators of Grey Wolves.
