Hi doogerie and welcome to the SH3 forum.

Go to the navigation map (use the side bar slider) and then drift your mouse pointer over the top right of the screen to bring down the plotting instruments.

The plotting tool is simplicity in itself. Just drag and draw a line and click and your lovely U-Boat will follow that course.

Check for islands if you are going a long way ahead. I ran into Denmark once but Doenitz didn't find out... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blush.gif

Bloody hell, you're taking me back to ancient history here, Been a long time since I did the training missions. IIRC you have to follow a SSE course after getting the first radio message. You'll know if you are on course if you get three E-Boats overtaking on the starboard side. Just follow them.

Follow the radio instructions from then on. The mission takes about fifteen minutes of real time and you have to jump through all the hoops to accomplish it. Don't get impatient and you will get through it. This 'simulation' is all about patience. Anxious skippers just die more...

Good luck and let us know how you get on. If you get sunk in training don't expect any sympathy. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

In this mission, I think they want you to use the compass, not the map. You've to set the course they ask you, at the speed they want. After some time, they'll ask you for periscope deep and some other easy maneouvers.

Right. I've just played the nav training myself. This is the sequence...

1. Start 1650 hrs: 'Steer SSE (157.5 degrees or therabouts). Ahead standard.'

2, 1653: 'Full ahead, maintain course.'

3. 1654: 'Go to periscope depth, ahead flank.'

4. 1657: 'Maintain course and speed.'

5. 1703: 'Head S and dive to 25m.'

6. 1712: 'You have completed the course when you reach the surface.'

Surface and end. Hope this helps.

Well done, Kielhauler! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

And do it as the exam, so you don't need to repeat if you get the max score!

You are most welcome. That's why this forum exists. When I first started out I didn't really have a clue what I was doing and got sunk a lot. Then I found this place and the help I got was massive. Still didn't result in me getting sunk less often but at least I knew WHY! Any more questions just come here and ask. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
