Now that Red Orchestra has won the Make Something Unreal contest (http://www.unrealtournament.com/ut2003/contest.php) . The Red Orchestra team has gotten an unprecedented amount of awards and reviews.

Our latest Review which you can view at Macologist (http://www.macologist.org/portal.php?topic_id=878) is probably the best so far, so if your into WWII First Person shooter games and you want something a bit more slow passed and allot more realistic then RO may be the game you€ve been looking for!

Be sure to check out Red Orchestra at www.RedOrchestragame.com (http://www.RedOrchestragame.com)

Thanks,
Anthony

Already pimping it under my sig http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

This game pwns, i bought UT2004 just for this mod and was not disapointed. When i first DL'd it i couldnt believe this was for free!

I am really considering this game, since I really like the eastern front and RO is described as a thinking man's shooter. By far my favorite WWII fps is Hidden and Dangerous 2. Call of Duty is ok, but not flexible enough and too run and gun. BF1942 is good, but unorganized and lonely.

My only reservation for RO is that it is on-line only. I play when I can which is often short periods of time at odd hours. Don't know how I'd fit this one in. Anyway, it sounds worth a try.

hey james

if u like prefer H&D over CoD then u will like RO. As for fitting the time in, I wouldnt worry about that, all ur other FPS games will be coffee cup coasters once u have this http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I still don't have UT2004 but I may do one day - if only to play this MOD. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

You should! Seeing as UT2k4 is not very expensive anymore. Buying it just for RO is well worth every penny. Your getting the most realistic WWII game out their with probably the best infantry and tank combat all for free! They even have Virtual Online Wars that you can participate in just like in IL2.

Go for it!

Dont expect a COD style of play. You need to play smart or you WILL die quickly. I love the mod, with a few tweaks here and there it will be absolutely perfect. Well done if you are on the team by the way! It is definitely worth the purchase of UT2K4 (RO is the only reason I purchased the game).

The "bots" will be much improved in next patch, but there are no designed missions to play. For the most part a multi-player experience.

Red Orchestra is to Eastern Front infantry warfare as IL2 is to the ETO air war.

Killer mod, mate, its the only reason I've kept UT2k4 installed since the Action UT mod died http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-mad.gif .

The best thing about RO isn't just the realism, its that you are playing on servers with a bunch of polite, serious gamers who are playing the game as was meant to be played.

None of this w00t, j00 bn p\/\/n3d, muth@ stuff you'd find on CounterStrike servers, for example. The mod encourages teamplay, not kill count.

Congrats on winning the MSUC!

Any chance of ever getting Japan in there? Some pretty good stories of Russia vs Japan fighting. Many games allow you to play as Germany these days, but other than some mods for BF there really isn't a game where you can play as the Japanese.

This mod was the reason i bought UT2004.
I got the game, installed it, installed Red Orchestra, and didnt play an UT map for about a week.
I used to be really good.
I stopped playing for a while, because i got readdicted to Il-2 (i'm terrible at playing 2 games) and so i havent been in the loop.
But this post got me back on track, i just got done playing a bit, and god am i rusty http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
But i still love it, i love the addition of the russian Anti Tank Rifle, god that thing is hot

S!I read this thread and had to get RO.I went out and bought UT2004(Editors' Choice Edition 13/02) just for"RO".UT came with 10 CD's.Three of the CD's are called "MoD installers" and RO was 1 which btw is the only Mod i installed.I hav been playin CoD this last yr,but the run n gunnin style does grow stale after awhile.I hav been following BiA(Brothers in Arms/UBIsoft).this last few months.I must say that game looks great, but the proof is in the game itself(tactical based game)anyways i will start wandering around and learning how RO runs, and from what i seen n read this game should rock(RO)with good tactics and great lookin maps.S! Fenna mate! You didnt get it yet? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif

For me the DVD version was bugged, it didnt install properly and it seems many others had this problem also. Seems to be a malfunctioning installer. No idea how they got an error like this into the shops, but if you can, it might be safer to get the CD version.

reload2000
02-18-2005, 12:40 AM
Being a Dev probably wont count, but if you want my honest opinion on that then I would without a doubt say yes. Its alot better multiplayer and especially graphics wise then COD and COD:UO. But it also depends on what type of multiplayer gameplay you like. Red Orchestra is for the more seiouse team player. Its not a "Run and Gun" type of game like your common FPS.

I can understand your bias - The mod really looks cool and will give it a try. Right now I'm runing a cod:uo server with the vs-uk Total War mod - I don't like the arcade style run-n-gun either - But the Total War mod lets you set the "morter salvo time", "rate of bleeding", "weapons used" "number of tanks", etc.

With this mod - there are so many variables to fine tune - you can get a good sense of realism if you set your server up right: revco|66.150.107.134:28960 your welcome to give it a try. No client side mod needed.

There is also a "class system" where you can play as a medic, soldier, engineer. etc.

Do you have a list of RO servers?

Thanks...

Good to hear you're going commercial, mate. Not that some kind of insane consumer, but I can only think that with a publisher, backing and the sales that RO:CA is like to make, you'll be able to things with the game that we can only drool about http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Let the community know if you're planning on hiring, too. This place is brimming with modellers, skinners and designers. I'm a writer by trade, and my interest in history was one of the reasons I became interested in RO in the first place.

Cheers,
