Not me, but all the articles I've read have been giving the 6800 GT/Ultra better scores than Ati's offerings, and I think they are a bit cheaper.

I'd hit some hardware review site (www.anandtech.com, (http://www.anandtech.com,) tom's harware guide (don't know the url)) for quality information and benchmarks.

I just got my 6800 GT tuned up (thank you W.B.).

Nice card. Mine overclocked happily to 400/1080 which is very near 6800 Ultra (400/1100).
Also, the Pine XFX 6800 GT has TWO DVI connectors, just like the Ultra, so...

Without overclocking, I got the following test results to date:
Game settings all maxed out (perfect)
1280x960, 4 xAA and 4 x AF, driver settings on high quality, no Vsync
Black Death Track = 42 FPS average

The image quality is stunning!
I dont think you would be wrong buying a X800 Pro, but it should be less expensive. At equal price I'd go for the 6800 GT.
S!

Black Death, i get 42 fps

Anybody got a test between the 6800 ultra, and the X800 XT Platnium? Or whatever the two top cards are called now.

I don't have a 6800 Ultra to test against my X800XTPE but I will tell you that this card absolutely rocks, 1200x1600x32 4XAA, 4XAF at 70FPS average. One caveat, however, the 6800U supports Shader 3 technology wuich will make a huge difference with Pacific Fighters when it comes out.

They did a test on Tomshardware and the Ultra beat up the X800 XT a bit. But they were pretty close. The suprise was the 6800 GT running right with them and spanking the x800 Pro very clearly.

i saw some tests with different games, and the x800 was beating the 6800 in a lot of games. especially at high res with fsaa. How do the cards do in FB on these tests. I know they use FB for some of the tests now. Is the 6800 a clear winner in FB at higher settings?

I'm to lazy to go find the tests. I know some of you guys have seen them, and maybe have a link.

The 128MB vanilla 6800 is getting beat by the x800 Pro. The 6800 GT tromps the cr@p out of the x800 Pro in everything I have seen. And I am a ATI fanboy.

Here is the latest comparison with Farcry which is IMO more graphic intensie than FB. You will see the 6800 GT and Ultra doing very good thru the whole show. The x800 XT PE looks like it does very well too, but it dam well should considering it's price tag. $400 for the 6800 GT looks like a sure bet to me.

in DOOM 3 the 380 buck 6800 GT beats the pants off the X800 XT PLATINUM TOP OF LINE ATI 500 buck card.

6800 owns the doom 3 market without a doubt.

in P.F. the 6800 cards are using the new 3.0 shaders and 9.0c directx drivers and both those features will be in P.F. so the 6800 should have the advantage in P.F. as well as doom 3.

farcry ati and nvidia are basically almost equal with a miniscule advantage to the ati cards that you wont be able to see

the 6800 ultra card is DOMINATING in doom 3 but it requires a 480 watt power supply Minimum.

and two slots

They are not cheap in my place here. costing S$1088 = USD621

6800 GT cheaper than x800 by at least USD120

What do you make of this? It's only against the old 9800XT.

That is pretty impressive. The old 9800 XT IMO is still a great card. I think as more things are coded with DX 9.0c and PS 3.0, the new 6800 series will really shine as shown in the Far Cry test. I am still hoping ATI can make the x800 Pro compete better for the money.

The site www.firingsquad.com (http://www.firingsquad.com) uses IL2 as one of its benchmark titles. Since I only play IL-2 http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
This is my bible.

I am extremely happy with my 6800 GT and can recommend it as a great price/performance point vs the absolute top end. It is also an easier card if your PSU is not a a min-nuclar power plant.
I have a 410 W power supply with just 18 A on 12V, and A LOT of other stuff to feed!

I had ordered a X800XT PE, but got tired of waiting, and during that time learnt that PF was a Shader Model 3 game -> the switch was a no brainer!
