Always looking at the bargain bookstore for WW2 stuff and found these 'AIRCRAFT OF THE ACES' series. So naturally I grabbed the FW190 one first http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif then the rest. Every book nowdays has it's reliability of information issues, but this is an 'oddball' and a good possibility of being true.

I have this book - and a few other Osprey books by John Weal. Some people have commented on the historical accuracy of some Osprey books but as they have been written by authors too numerous to mention, you cannot generalize.

I personally find John Weal to be very knowledgable on technical matters and his books seem to be very well researched - he is a talented writer too.

However he only cites a 'selected bibliography' (albeit sizeable) at the end of this book and uses no footnotes so it would take A LOT of book-sifting to find where this story came from...

*BTW K_Freddie - check your PMs*

Sorry Schwarz.. I should have been more specific about the 'oddball' - It is meant to be the highlighted paragraph and not the whole book.

He must have found this by sifting though a 'gazillion' pages of WW2 records.
